Since Big Stein is sending all the position players for this great cause he should have had Crystal at this instead of hacking away vs the Pirates

My favorite Yankee hat is a camel color-you don't see it much. I got it at Modell's. The only positive outcome of the Va. Tech slaughter would be to realize it was preventable as are many mass slaughters these days.

I'm a VA Tech student and when the orange and maroon Yankees hats first surfaced in a couple of stores around here, I practically tackled the first guy I saw wearing one to ask him where he got it. It was actually months ago that they first came out, probably around October or November. They later released Red Sox and Braves ones (I guess because Atlanta is one of the baseball towns closest to here and the Red Sox are just the Red Sox). I've seen some people wearing those other two, but the Yankees ones are definitely the most prominent on campus. Everytime I go back home to the DC area, I seem to bring back more and more Yankee/Tech hats. I think my family of four collectively bought about 15; we just keep giving them out to our NY family and friends (who I don't think will wear them, but still think they're cool items to have). By the way, I don't have the link but the Virginia Tech bookstore is selling another type of Yankee/Tech hat and at least one kind of T-shirt, both which can be ordered online I believe. I just picked up 2 of the hats and have no idea why I need them; I'm becoming rather compulsive when buying anything Yankee related.

Just for anyone who might be interested, there certainly is a lot of hype around here about the Yankees coming up. Not necessarily even a lot of hype from the university (though the school certainly is promoting the game), but more so of a general buzz in the atmosphere. I think the students/community realize how special it is that such a successful team would be willing to do more than, as nice as it is, just wear a particular hat in their game or write a check. I'm sure the absolute last thing any of those Yankees want to do is leave sunny Tampa and treck up here to the middle of nowhere to play a 2 hour game against a college team in potentially crappy weather. As a devoted Yankees fan, the last thing I want to see is one of their players get hurt; I'd somehow feel guilty. But just the presence is appreciated by most of the people here. There are, of course, some students who won tickets in the lottery system and are just using the Yankees to profit some cash for the ticket (a reported average of $200). Just don't let those people taint your opinions of our school or your perceptions of the attitudes of the general student population.

Though I was not fortunate enough to win a ticket in the lottery system, I did happen to have a friend who won one and realized she couldn't go after claiming it, so she gave it to me. Anyway, my question is... who the hell am I supposed to root for in this game? I'm a person who has to choose a team to root for when watching a game. I certainly have much more Yankee loyalty than Hokie sports loyalty, but I don't feel like it could be like a normal game in which I root hard against the Yankee opponent... that would be low of me to do on such a special day.
