Whozat – that makes sense. Put one in the minors and have each guy serve their suspension individually so they’d only be 1 man down.

It would be the 1st real challenge for Joe Girardi in managing the team with a 23-man roster. With Shelley and Melky being position players, Brett Gardner could be kept but then it’s a question of having one less pitcher for 3 games and who that would be.

That would make the most sense. It would be foolish to start the season with 23 guys. Unless of course mlb won’t let them do this.

So, the Yanks could send them to the minors and have a 25-man roster for the first three games, but whenever they called those guys up, they’d have to deal with the suspensions.

I could see them doing some gymnastics by starting the season with one in the minors, and then calling him up after the first suspension is over.

Pete – If Cabrera or Duncan loose their appeal can they start the season in the minor leagues and serve their 3 game suspension there? (That would enable the Yanks to have a 25 man major league roster for those 3 games.)
Michael Kay said that the Yankees could do that but I have seen other places that say the suspension has to be served in the major leagues. Can you clarify this?
