Duncan will appeal his suspension

Peter Abraham
March
16

Shelley Duncan said tonight that he plans to appeal his three-game suspension.

The best-case scenario in these situations is usually a one-game reduction. The appeal has not yet been scheduled. But with Opening Day not until March 31, MLB would seem to have plenty of time to hear the case.

What are the chances that either Melky or Shelley start the season in the minors. I know they’ve already stated that they would go with a 23 man roster. It’s not like they haven’t gone back on their word before. I think it would be foolish to not try to get around losing two players for at least 2 days. Unless either Shelley or Melk could get their suspension down to one game.

A 1 game reduction would be good.

    could be timing move.

appealing would make him available for the opening home series vs the Jays, then they can drop the appeal, and begin serving the suspension during the DRays series that immediately follows the Jays’ games.

Any appeal would likely be over before Opening Day.

Question: If players are suspended, but are still on the roster (as Duncan and Melky will most likely be to open the season), do their names still get announced during opening introductions? Or are they not even allowed to attend the games?

I’m wondering because I am attending opening day and was hoping to be able to cheer my ass off for them both.

Why do I find it somewhat NOT amusing in that espn article that Carl is more concerned with girls in bikinis

Pavano has displayed an amazing talent in collecting a pay check and still has the audacity to call guys like A-rod, Jeter and Mariano his team mates.
