  1. ed in pr

    Go get em’girls!

  2. JBRO

    I’ll be there…

    Happy St. Pat’s

  3. jennifer- Hip Hip Jorge

I’m shocked Alex is sitting, this would be bp to him.

  4. Fran

Looks like the Red Sox are bringing a lot of their regulars. I think that this is their last game before they leave for Japan.

  5. Donnie

Any idea if the Yankees are doing anything in honor of St Pats?

    Green pinstripes maybe? LOL

  6. Brian from PA

Girardi had to sit A-Rod because he doesn’t want the Red Sox to think we’re so obsessed with beating them in Spring that we need our opening day lineup. ;)

i saw an article by Ian Brown at MLB where he said Terry Francona didn’t even know they were playing the Yankees today until it was mentioned to him….yeah ok.

  7. RJPinstripes

I would say that you add A-Rod for Betemit and this is our opening day and starting off the season line-up. With A-Rod this is definitely our best (offensive anyway) lineup. Put Shelly in the game in the 6th-7th (like Menky last year) and that will be it! Shelly is no Menky with the glove at first (but who is?) GOFERIT -Yanks!
AND A HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY TO YOU ALL!

  8. jk

Pete, is it true they put out an extra tray of corned beef and cabbage for Colon?

  9. Derek - RETIRE 21!!!(please?)

Arod definately does not need any more ABs against Colon…

I believe the term is ownage.

  10. PlayballNYY

    RJPinstripes -
I’d say Andy Phillips gave Menky a pretty good run for his money, didn’t have the experience and the gold gloves…but he did his thing.

  11. PlayballNYY

Who are the lefties and switch hitters on Red Sox besides Ortiz?

  12. Brandon (Proud supporter of "Alex being Alex" ) (I slay the Anti)

definitely unfair, Alex must be going crazy and w/ Bartolo pitching !

  13. Brian from PA

PlayballNYY: I know Varitek is a switch but i’m not sure what side Moss and Carter hit from.

  14. Brian from PA

Ellsbury hits lefty I think too, not 100% sure

  15. Renee in Boston

hate to break it to you guys, but today isn’t really st. patrick’s day.

the catholic church moved it to march 15th because the 17th coincided with Holy Week. (yesterday was Palm Sunday and all that)

  16. jay destro

what a day here in Tampa. Beautiful as can be.

  17. Ross

So, we have no A-Rod, they have no Manny. Fair match.

  18. trisha

Yankees have always owned Bartolo Colon. It’ll be interesting to see if that changes.

  19. trisha

    So far so good!

  20. Manimal

What are the exact stats vs colon?

    Yankees winning 4-0

  21. trisha

I’d have to look it up. I just remember that we always have managed to kill the guy.

  22. PlayballNYY

So much for the Colon comeback…has he gotten out of the first inning yet?

  23. trisha

I’m at work so I’m touch and go. It’s looking like we’re in the bottom of the 2nd.

  24. trisha

Colon out of the game already.

  25. trisha

    Two run homer Abreu.

  26. PlayballNYY

Thanks for the update…at work, nothin but mlb.com for updates-very slow

  27. trisha

Playball – if you send me your email address and can get away with it, I’ll send you my account and you can either watch or listen to the game. Will check back in a few.

  28. trisha

Run on Andy, you idiot Pedroia!

    Pick off.

  29. trisha

    Phillips stinks.
