afaik, the Yanks were the only team to donate any money to the tsunami victims. $1 million iirc, matching MLB's contribution. the next time someone rips into Steinbrenner, tell them about his donations.

Giradi,

Good question about the MLB.TV broadcast, I can't figure out how to watch it either. There is no mention of the free game or how to do it.

Brian -

I need to tell you what being a Yankee fan means to me. It means that I get a catch in my throat every time I think about the history of our "storied franchise" and watch games in the house that Ruth built. Ruth. Babe Ruth. Acknowledged to be the greatest player in the history of the game. Our Babe. I get chills just thinking about it. It means that I am easily brought to tears when I watch the ceremonies before games and watch the jets fly over the Stadium and the eagle fly down onto the field and feel like I could burst with pride over the spectacular and CLASSY job the Yankee organization does whenever it does anything. It means that I couldn't be more proud of the ownership of this team and in awe of one George Steinbrenner, who gives the Yankees every opportunity to field a winning team every single year, and in spite of his bluster, digs deep into his own pocket anytime there is any kind of tragedy and takes people and players personally under his wing. As big as his mouth can be, his heart is even bigger. It means that I cannot watch the highlight of Derek Jeter's "shovel pass" to Jorge in that Oakland game without actually tearing up. It means that sometimes I am so filled with emotion and love for the team that I don't know what I to do with myself! I have been a Yankee fan in lean times and in good times. I cannot get enough of watching them and consider the team the greatest there is no matter where they finish. All I can do is paraphrase the words of the great Joe Di and say I'd like to thank the good Lord for making me a Yankee fan. The Yankees accomplishments do not denigrate any other team as much as they just continue to elevate their own status. Going to Virginia Tech today is just one such example. And about preening? While I never much thought about it, if what I am doing is preening, may I never stop. And about what "others" may think of my preening? I guess I don't much care.

Brian (Red Sox Fan), re: Grace Kelly's classiness: I just watched Rear Window the other day. I would have to say that Grace Kelly, along with being one of the classiest women to ever live, also is probably one of the most beautiful women who ever lived. I could stare at her all day long.
