mel- Ok, (and this clearly has nothing to with A-Rod) I get you, but some of the players could stand at their lockers for hours, but if they don’t have the language to say what they want to say, you’re not left with much insight into what they really think. A lot of these guys have worked really hard to improve their English, but it’s a darn hard thing to do, especially when one doesn’t live in an English speaking environments year round.

While I’m on my soapbox- another major difference between the Latin and Asian players is usually age and life experience. Ok, I’m done. Really. I think. Sorry for the off-topic stuff.

Anyone wonder why regional teams like the Nationals and the Orioles didn’t offer this instead of, or in addition to, the Yankees?

There are alot of baseball fans in the Nats and Os region who have to be impressed with the Yankees class with this move – wonder how many of them wish their own teams had done the same thing.
