Should be a contest for the ages.

  2. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708

Ssh Pete, they’re not supposed to know about the supersecret plan to make Ensberg a regular!

  3. Ricky Rios

I had a dream last night that Chad Moeller played an important role for the 2008 Major League team.

  4. Keith

This will be about the final game that Jason Lane, Chris Woodward, and Cody Ransom will see before the next cuts.
The final week of spring training is here.

  5. Jaewon

    Does Lane have any options?

  6. Drive 4-5

If Lane and Ransom have options, the Yanks will have 2 respectable players at their disposal in Scranton. I think both of them have potential to help short term.

  7. moe

adding ensberg was a bad move. this guy can’t hit nomore. 2005 was 3 years ago. he will probably get cut in a month.

  8. Fran

I read somewhere this morning that Alex was on the travel roster for today (that would have made him the fourth regular), but then he was given the day off today.

  9. Jeff NJ

Thank goodness March Madness will give us something to watch today. This game looks to be terrible.

  10. CB

Not sure how Lane’s contract is structured but if he’d be a terrific asset in AAA for insurance.

He’s had a good spring though and I’d have to think another team would be interested. The entire Nationals starting outfield is hurt right now. Ditto for the Mets - they need a right handed bat to fill in for Alou.

Even taking a minor league job with another club would give Lane a better shot at getting to the majors this year.

It’ll be interesting to see how the last spots in the pen shakes out.

I hope it’s not Bruney. He appears to have an option left - send him to the minors and let him prove he can throw strikes. 7 innings in spring training don’t change his extensive record of poor control in the past.

  11. Donson

Great. We get to watch Karstens again. Can I just once watch Hughes pitch?

  12. Alan

Karstens needs to pitch good today or he falls below Joe Girardi’s radar. Rasner pitched real well on Friday night vs. the Rays regulars.

  13. Fran

A reminder for anybody interested the Yankees season preview show “Pride, Power, Pinstripes 2008″ premieres on YES at 4:00 following today’s game.

  14. Joe from Long Island

If anyone’s interested, there is a really good piece on Dave Eiland in todays Newark Star-Ledger.

  15. Easter Bunny

    ————– Original messag
Easter is early this year. Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify Passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar. Based on the above information, Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22). That is rare.
Here’s what’s interesting. This is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives ! Only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years old or above). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier !
    1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913. So those that are 95 or older are the only ones that were around for that.
    2) The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or ever will see it any earlier than this year.
All this and Boston will still never catch the Yankees for World Championships. Who can imagine Boston winning 19 consecutive world championships just to catch the Yankees to the break even point ?

  16. Bill Porter

“Who can imagine Boston winning 19 consecutive world championships just to catch the Yankees to the break even point ?” Apparently not even the Easter Bunny!

Thanks Bunny for an interesting post. Now where the hell are my chocolate eggs? Quit playing on the internet and get your little bunny a$$ to work.

  17. mel

“In the meantime, be happy for a rejuvenated Vlad Radmanovic, get ready for Sunday night’s game against the Warriors, and have a great day with your Peeps.”

This was on my favorite NBA team blog with a picture of yellow Peeps attached.

I thought it was so cute I wanted to share it with my LoHud Peeps. :) (when will you let us upload pictures, Pete? Dr. Acula’s the only naughty one you have to worry about, let the regulars post!)

    Happy Easter, guys!

  18. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708

When I turned 12 my birthday fell on Easter, so my mother made me an Easter basket for my present. Tons of chocolates and peeps, and a giant SOLID chocolate bunny, and since this was the year of Titanic, tons of books on Titanic and Leonardo DiCaprio (guess which ones I liked better…)

  19. Bronxbyte

    Joe from Long Island :

You are correct. Great Dave Eiland article.

  20. Ranting Guy

    Easter Bunny -

Boston would have to win 50% of all world series for the next 4 decades to pass the Yankees, as long as the Yankees don’t win any in that time.

So most Boston fans over 40 are guaranteed of not seeing that happen even if Boston dopes that well and NY does that poorly. Thus, their despair and expectation of lifelong futility even in a best case scenario.

By the next time Easter comes this early, statistics suggest the Yanks will probably have won 64 more championships (totalling 100!) to the Red Sox 16 more (totalling 23).

In geological terms, by the next ice age the difference will be about 26,573 championships.

In galactic terms, by the time the sun finally implodes …

  21. Rubin

Hmm, this game actually means something to most of the players playing. Maybe Karstens will pitch well because hes competing for that LR spot in the ‘pen. Now, if Tyler Clippard were still here, I would have said the LR spot is Clippards to lose, but nope, we got Albaladejo, who hopefully can help us this year. This game can very well be Karstens and Ohlendorf’s last chance this Spring.

Im pretty sure Britton and Bruney will both make the Opening Day roster, which leaves us 1 more spot in the ‘pen, which my guess would be it will go to 1 of Rasner, Karstens and Ohlendorf. Now, is when it gets interetsting! Cant wait to see who performs well today!

  22. Elizabeth

Rubin–You think Britton would make it over Taber, Patterson, and Albaladejo? I don’t.

Ohlendorf is really promising, and I don’t believe this is his “last chance.” We just saw the first of him this past Sept and he’s really intiguing.

I was wondering about the regulars when I first glanced at the roster. Is Alex okay? Just getting a day off?

  23. Elizabeth

    *Traber

  24. Andrea - anti-anti

I’m liking Singleton and Lorenz announcing. They both have pretty soothing voices.

  25. Rubin

Elizabeth-I just think Traber needs some more time. Albaladejo hasnt shown me anything I like this spring, especially when he did terrible yesterday. Britton has more MLB experience. I believe the smart move would be to have Britton start in the MLB.

  26. Elizabeth

Albaladejo would have pitched a scoreless first were it not for the errors. Just something to keep in mind.

Britton, on the other hand, has been absolutely horrid in his tenure with the Yankees.

  27. Angel

Britton has more MLB experience than Traber? Am I reading you right? I think Traber has shown a lot more than Britton.
