Public service announcement

img_1893.jpgBruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be playing Gillette Stadium in Foxboro on Aug. 2. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

However, if you’re a Patriots season tickets holder you can obtain a password that gets you into the presale that is going on right now. So work fast.

In a span of a few minutes this morning, my brother in law Brian and my buddy Deano obtained 20 seats and now plans are underway for a giant tailgate party before the show. If you’re a Springsteen fan and a blog reader, please stop by for a beer before the show.

Pete, if you’re that big of a Bruce fan you need to see him in Jersey.

  2. Derek - RETIRE 21!!!(please?) March 24th, 2008 at 1:49 pm

Sounds like Brian and Deano are still reeling from one GIANT loss…

When does seeing Springstein become stalking?

  5. Peter Abraham March 24th, 2008 at 1:55 pm

Rebecca: I’ve seen Springsteen in Jersey roughly 50 times. From the Stone Pony to Giants Stadium. I’ll be there in July.

I think I’m the only person born and bred in NJ who doesn’t care for Bruce Springsteen, however much I may salute his political sentiments.

Is there a provision to declare GMs insane and impeach them from office?

    Pete: I shudda known!

I’m more of a Bon Jovi person myself, but both are holy of holy as far as Jersey musicians go.

  10. Matty March 24th, 2008 at 2:08 pm

I actually can’t see Bruce anymore.

Don’t get me wrong, I love his music. And his stage performance.

But I’ve seen some incredible shows since 1999. And I fear anything past that will be a letdown.

July 1st, 2000 will be one of the most memorable evenings of my life.

  11. tony March 24th, 2008 at 2:10 pm

Big deal, Pearl Jam is playing 2 nights at MSG in June!!!!

  12. saucY March 24th, 2008 at 2:15 pm

never cared for bruce… and most of the fans of him i’ve met are from outside of jersey.

  13. McLovin March 24th, 2008 at 2:17 pm

    Pearl Jam is better.

Oh yeah thanks for the Patriots update Pete, did a Red Sox fan remind you.Don’t forget to get your Celtics Playoff tickets because we need more Boston and New England updates.Your good Pete.

  14. S.o.S.27 March 24th, 2008 at 2:24 pm

    saucy
    never cared for bruce

Make that 2. I didnt even know he made another song after Born In The USA. Never cared much about the Patriots either. Not the greatest duo Pete.

  15. Peter Abraham March 24th, 2008 at 2:24 pm

    McLovin:

All I can say is thanks for reading the blog and providing hits. Why one post out of thousands would upset you so, I have no idea. And how was that a Patriots update exactly?

If you don’t like my blog, don’t read it. It’s really that simple. I’m going to write about what I want to write about.

  16. Tits McGee March 24th, 2008 at 2:30 pm

    Pete,

I love your blog, but enough with the Bruce Springsteen already!

Get some real music in your head like Black Label Socitey, Machine Head, Children of Bodom, or Megadeth.

  17. S.o.S.27 March 24th, 2008 at 2:35 pm

    PETER:
Rebecca: I’ve seen Springsteen in Jersey roughly 50 times.

Damn Pete 50x. I think that calls for a “best ever fan pass” with free front row seats to any and all of Bruces performances. Let Bruce know this. He’ll either give you the pass or call the authorities on you. Win win.

  18. CountryClub March 24th, 2008 at 2:38 pm

It’s funny how polarizing Bruce can be. Pete, I’m with you. I’ll be there on the 2nd and I also have tickets for one of the Giant’s stadium shows. Pearl Jam is doing 2 shows at MSG? Wow, get back to me when they sell out 15 at MSG over a 30 day span (like Bruce did in 2000).

  19. Yazman March 24th, 2008 at 2:41 pm

Hey, I grew up in Old Bridge (not too far north of Bruce territory) and lived in Sayreville for a bit (Bon Jovi territory).

Went to the 1980 “No Nukes” concerts at MSG. Bruce was the ONLY performer who turned to face those of us in the cheap seats behind the stage. A simple gesture like that — powerfully choregraphed with a “1…2…3…4″ and then the whole band jumping up and facing backwards — at a charity benefit concert made you feel in your bones that Bruce cared for real people in a way that most don’t.

  20. NJ in Tampa March 24th, 2008 at 2:44 pm

    18-1.

  21. Buffalohead March 24th, 2008 at 3:10 pm

    Springsteen..Yawn…is the 1978?

  22. Steve March 24th, 2008 at 3:13 pm

Believe it or not, seeing Bruce 50x times in Jersey doesn’t come CLOSE to “best fan ever” status among Bruce fans. I’ve met people who’ve seen him 50+ times on a single tour. I’m more in the same league as Pete on this — I’ve seen him about 50 times, although only about 1/2 to 2/3 of those in Jersey. And Jersey shows tend NOT to be the best shows for Bruce, by the way. Philly and Boston tend to get better shows, in general.

Springsteen is one of the most under-rated lyricists in music. For those who only know him from a couple of hits, you really don’t know him. And nothing compares to him live, including Pearl Jam (which also is a great band).

Pete can (and will) write about whatever he wants to write about on his blog, so those of you who tell him to shut up about Bruce or any other topic are wasting your time. And although he doesn’t need to hear it from me, let me just add my applause for Pete combining two of my great passions — Springsteen and the Yankees.

  23. StandingO'Neil March 24th, 2008 at 3:32 pm

Pete you should extend that invitation to Mad Dog Russo, who is a huge Springstein fan as well. Maybe he’ll let you on his show too and you can try to knock some sense into Francesa about Joba.

  24. StandingO'Neil March 24th, 2008 at 3:33 pm

I of course meant SpringSTEEN and not his jewish counterpart Bruce SpringSTEIN.

  25. rackem March 24th, 2008 at 3:45 pm

Finally a reason to be a Pats fan.

  26. Baja March 24th, 2008 at 3:51 pm

Just because you don’t love, doesn’t mean you have to hate…

  27. Hendo March 24th, 2008 at 4:30 pm

    Pete,
Don’t know if you’ve heard or not yet but he’s in the studio working on another album already. He said that he has so much material that most likely he’ll release 2. One with the E Street band and one solo.

  28. brian March 24th, 2008 at 4:41 pm

Hey does anyone know wehn pearl jam tix go on sale?

  29. Jay March 24th, 2008 at 4:50 pm

Bruce doesn’t have fans — he has a cult.

His fans are kind of insane. I understand being devoted to something (a sports team, a band, an artist), but they take it to scarily obsessive lengths. I went to a Bruce concert this year — my brother-in-law is one of the aforementioned cult members — and I thought it was great. Bruce, even at his age, has energy to burn, he loves to perform, and the crowd was amazing. So — cool time, to be sure. But it didn’t exactly change my life. I wouldn’t go back ten times this year, which my brother-in-law will. I just can’t see why people go multiple times a year to see him live. It’s almost creepy.

If you want to go out for every new tour, to hear the new tunes, fine, but why three/five/ten shows of the same tour?

  30. brian March 24th, 2008 at 4:51 pm

does anyone know wehn pearl jam tix for msg go on sale? Thank you.

  31. CAS March 24th, 2008 at 4:55 pm

I’m sure there is a way to CHEAT and get tickets….right?

  32. CAS March 24th, 2008 at 4:55 pm

    Sorry I couldn’t resist.

  33. Mr. Faded Glory March 24th, 2008 at 5:35 pm

As a Boss fan myself, I find it a little disgusting that Patriots season ticket holders (or ANY team’s season ticket holders) get the right to go in and buy 20 seats before other fans who maybe couldn’t have afforded Patriots season tickets, or are, say Buffalo Bills fans.

I don’t see what one has to do with the other, save a shared venue.

  34. oregonyanksfan March 24th, 2008 at 11:31 pm

Hey Pete – Very psyched for the Bruce show this Friday here in Portland…. Will update you after! Keep up the good work
