Here we go again with Canseco

The ever delightful Jose Canseco has another book coming out. According to a link featured on Deadspin.com, Canseco claimed he introduced Alex Rodriguez to a steroids dealer.

As you may recall, respected journalist Don Yaeger passed on being Canseco’s co-author because the ex-slugger didn’t have any facts to back up his claims. Then came a report that Canseco tried to extort money from Magglio Ordonez to keep his name out of the book. So keep that in mind when deciding what you believe.

Canseco also admits in the book that he hates A-Rod, supposedly because A-Rod was chasing after his wife.

Here’s the original link that was referenced by Deadspin.

this must’ve affected him more than we thought:

So he introduced him to a dealer, what does that mean? He could have said hey meet my friend Joe. And not introduced him as a roids dealer. This means nothing. If this is his bomb shell well it isn’t very big. And if he hates Alex you believe nothing of what he said.

  3. Baja

Go ‘way Jose, go ‘way, go ‘way. Go ‘way, Jose.

    Dear God,

Please take Jose Canseco from us in the most painful way possible. Make him really suffer before you take him.

    Thank,

    Phil G.

I always wondered why that ball bouncing off Canseco’s noggin didn’t knock him out cold. It was like he barely felt it. Was he wearing his cup in the wrong place that day?

Thanks for the raving book review, Pete. I’ll have to remember to run out and buy Canseco’s book right after I finish reading Lupica’s book.

Could you let us know as soon as either guy gets scheduled to appear on Oprah?

  9. Christine

Someone needs to ship Canseco to Tasmania in a box just like the Tasmanian Devil in the Looney Tunes commercials, though we have to make sure he STAYS there.

Canseco is a complete scumbag. And Alex chasing after his wife, give me a break.

I think all the accused should join together and write their own book on this loser.

-Canseco also admits in the book that he hates A-Rod, supposedly because A-Rod was chasing after his wife.-

and now I know what he meant w/ he isn’t who he seems to be :D

  11. YankeesBen

Now that explains why he goes after A-Rod all the time.

  12. Christine

So the book is supposed to be released April 1st? How appropriate, an April Fool’s joke from the biggest joke of them all.

“Canseco also admits in the book that he hates A-Rod, supposedly because A-Rod was chasing after his wife.”

When did the supposed chasing occur? Are we to believe that a young, tremendously talented good looking ARod was so desperate for a woman that he was chasing after Canseco’s wife?

Besides that, I don’t believe ARod has ever taken Roids. He was already a MONSTER offensively. At age 20 ARod had 91 XBH’s. That is unheard of.

  14. Brandon (supporting the new movement "Alex being Alex")

that woman is his former wife I mean didn’t she leave him for a Garth Fisher

  15. Moe

This guy wants to ruin the sport, baseball should hire a sniper and get rid of this guy.

  16. murphydog

Paging Agent Novitsky. Agent Novtisky, please call your office.

  17. Gus G.

This pretty much sums it up in one sentence… “No word yet on whether Andy Rooney is juiced too.”

  18. desti(NY) 2008

This sounds like a clear cut case of Jose Canseco mis-remembering.

  19. jennifer- Hip Hip Jorge

And like Jose never stepped out on his wife. If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you.

  20. Yankeepelotero

Canseco, go jump over a bridge.

  21. Phil Hughes is Saved!

    Canseco is a joke

  22. murphydog

The former Mrs. Canseco (now Mrs. Garth Fisher) does look a little like the current Mrs. A-Rod. It’s possible.

  23. StandingO'Neil

Well they can get to the bottom of that claim pretty quickly, if they could someone how get the dealer to step forward and state what they talked about. Then again thats not going to happen because nobody is dumb enough to incriminate themselves. Well, almost no one.

  24. Brandon (supporting the new movement "Alex being Alex")

murphy if you saw Jessica’s playboy pics oh boy ;)

  25. Fran

Introducing him to a dealer is not saying he used. I’ve met many people once and never associated with them again. Obviously his real motive is that he hates Alex. I wish Conseco would just go away.

  26. Steve

Um, the site that published the review is a HUMOR site.

  27. Old Goat-

I have to wonder if the real story is that Canseco’s wife was chasing after A-Rod. That would tick off Jose a lot more than A-Rod going after his wife. After all, that would mean that she believed A-Rod to be better than him.

It would explain why he would be going hard after A-Rod.

  28. Elizabeth--Melky in CF 08 and beyond

Steve–Humor but based on real articles and real links. The review isn’t a “humorous” review. Deadspin takes real links and articles they find and then comments on them in a humorous way. But the review looks legit to me.

  29. Elizabeth--Melky in CF 08 and beyond

    The AP picked it up….

  30. Christine

Why should we, or anyone for that matter, believe anything that comes out of the mouth of a wife beater and one who beats up on tourists? He is no better than OJ Simpson and he is a coward.

Old Goat probably has a point. The second wife probably saw the light and he got jealous. She says he cheated on her throughout their marriage.

The thing I am most bothered by is that this piece of garbage was ever associated with the Yankees. I wish they had never picked him up.

Update: Newsday got a copy of the book. Seems Canseco claims that Alex asked-but-didn’t-ask about where to get ‘roids:

  32. joe b

Add another name to the ROIDS link !!!!!!

  33. YankeesLuv

He hated Arod for hitting on his wife, the wife he loved so much he cheated on her left and right.
I agree with some of the posters.
    a) Canseco should go jump off a bridge and…
    b) I think his wife was chasing after Arod not the other way around.
