What is it with Jessica Canseco?
The former wife of Jose Canseco is at the center of most baseball controversies these days. Roger Clemens could be headed to Shawshank because he may have lied about attending a party at Canseco’s house. How do we know this?
Because Jessica Canseco and Debbie Clemens apparently flashed each other to compare their boob jobs.
Now comes news that Canseco is mad at Alex Rodriguez because he may have been hitting on Jessica.
What’s next? Melky and Robbie’s wild night with Jessica? Maybe Phil, Joba and Ian know Jessica. I think I saw her at the Macaroni Grill in Tampa with Yogi Berra and Stump Merrill.
We await the next bombshell about the bombshell. Call Cynthia Rodriguez, Jessica. She has a t-shirt for you.

the Daily News article is so badly written, it is so focussed on slanting the portions of this that reflect badly on Clemens, that it functions as propaganda, not “news”.
as just one example, it refers to evidence that “may further undermine” Clemens’ assertion that he didn’t attend the party. There has not been a shred of evidence to suggest Clemens was there. He may have been at the house before or after the party, which of course is not what McNamee claimed.

I love to come here an get the inside dirt and information on the team. I usually am not disapointed. However, today it seems ironic to me that I visit this site almost daily and one of the few times I post is when the topic is not related to what happens on the field.
True, it’s sad these kind of posts generate alot of comments. However, I hope someday, they will put less relevance on the number of posts and visits, and more on the time spent between clicks. In other words, it matters more that I spent some to read the content on the site than having just visited.

Berkley Books backed away from Canseco’s book because it was believed to have doubted its news value. Don Yaeger, the original collaborator and a former associate editor at Sports Illustrated, pulled out because he said he felt Canseco lacked specifics. The excerpts were first revealed by Joe Lavin, a freelance writer who has written for The Boston Globe Magazine and The Boston Herald. Lavin said that he found a copy of the book on a shelf in a bookstore in Cambridge, Mass., and bought it. Lavin posted an entry about the book on his Web site. The New York Times obtained information from the book by examining Lavin’s copy.
After Rodriguez left the Yankees’ clubhouse Tuesday, he calmly answered a few questions about Canseco’s allegations. “I dealt with it last spring and the year before that and the year before that,†Rodriguez said.
Asked how he would be affected by the charges, which included Canseco’s belief that Rodriguez was smitten with Canseco’s wife at the time, Rodriguez said: “Zero. No effect.†Rodriguez said he planned to release a statement about Canseco’s allegations “so I don’t have to answer it a hundred times.â€

Canseco is full of it. I read parts of his first book (I know, ugh, but at least I didn’t buy it) and he talks about ARod in it, mostly in a fairly neutral way. He talks about how they did some charity work together. He also said that ARod was fake and too corporate, but that’s as negative as he got.
The first book was written well after ARod allegedly hit on Canseco’s wife, and there’s no evidence that Canseco hated him at that time. So the idea that he didn’t rat ARod out in his first book because he hated him and thought it would damage his credibility is just absurd.
He didn’t name ARod as a user in his first book because he didn’t have any knowledge regarding ARod and steriods then, and he still doesn’t.

Stanford basketball’s doing good. Read an article about the Lopez brothers in SI. They’re so bright, grounded, focused on their life goals. Something about computers and animation. I was amazed.
Pay attention to Stanford volleyball. Programs on the rise with some prep stars from Hawaii. A lot of the junior national team kids.

Something in the database is mixed up. The “odd” transactions are from 08/25/03 (August 25, 2003), but they’re being listed under 03/25/08 (March 25, 2008).
The other wrong one is the Cleveland transaction, “Traded pitcher Brian Anderson to the Kansas City Royals for outfielder Trey Dyson, pitcher Kieran Mattison and cash,” which also happened on that date.
Also, although that page lists the transaction date at March 24, the individual team pages list the wrong ones under March 25. (In case my previous post didn’t make sense)
The Cincinnati transactions are all from 8/25/03 as well.

Canseco plays in a showbiz softball league I’ve spent far too much time on for about 20 years. Now the league is pretty good – previous best player was probably Bruce Boisclair, a fair major leaguer for the Mets — but this takes it to a whole new level. Lotsa jokes about drug testing. And a couple of the longest home runs I’ve ever seen.
Third basemen on the opposing teams routinely play him on the left field grass. With good reason.
