Jim Clark

The truth about G. Steinbrenner's activities in the early 70"s does not hurt me one bit. I am not his defender. I merely pointed out your stooping to a poisonous level over long gone events that had nothing to do with you onj an occasion where Steinbrenner was being honored for his Yankee contributions. Obviously nastiness is your natural vindictive stae of being. Enjoy

I agree with Optimus Prime above. He was a great owner and will be missed. Its sad to see him deteriorate like that.

Vrsoe: the truth hurts, doesn't it? Abraham has an article later on summing up the mans good and bad parts..and I've been around since he bought the team and promised absentee ownership.

He's willing to put up the bucks to make sure we have a solid team year after year (can the Orioles or Pirates say that?) despite how nit-picky some of us fans are. I know he'll always speak his mind and gain some attention, but would you want an owner who just didn't care? Certainly not.

What a vile petty comment you left. I will bet you do not have a clue as to the issue that George was convicted for 30 plus years ago. You just dredged up a vague memory and spewed it out. Contemptible

I remember this one story of George personally directing Yankee Stadium traffic...I think it might have happened beffore my time, but I'm not sure.

Either way, George is everything you should want in an owner.

He's demanding, doesn't settle for second and wants the absolute best for his team. He turned a team from a laughing stock to a championship team and did it again twenty years later.

He's certainly far from perfect, but would I rather have another non-Stein owner?

No way. Not a chance.
