Patterson earned a spot on the roster and got dumped on Scranton.... He better be called on soon cause it's a waste of talent over the almighty $$$$.

For whatever it's worth (probably not much) I did assure all that Betemit would be on the team. Mine was pragmatic more than psychic. He has a contract and the Yankees like him!

As far as Patterson not pitching above AA ball, the Phillies had a pretty decent starter last year Kyle Kendrick that was in the same situation. When he came up from Reading he got the job done. I know he hasn't as well this spring, but I wanted to use Kendrick as an example to compare to Patterson.

"He’s been the guy who gets two outs after the starter reaches his pitch count. That role doesn’t exist once the season starts. He can’t be the long man as he has only one a few outs at a time this spring."
I really hope this isn't the thinking of Cashman and Girardi. "We only used him in a certain role, and that role doesn't exist, so even though he's been great, we can't use him"? I guess you sort of have to IMAGINE a different role for him, it's not that hard; guy who gets outs. They should take the best guys, period. I hope the Yankees surprise us by including Patterson in the bullpen.

I have seen him develope over the past 4 years. Patterson is the BEST choice for the Yankees PERIOD! He can do three innings if he has to. He even started for Trenton last season when they were in need.
Come on Girardi don't let me down, take Scottie to the Big Apple

Patterson hasn't walked one guy - Girardi said he wants strike-throwers. he SHOULD make the team.

No Rasner please, Ohlendorf can serve as the long-man, as well as be a very good middle-reliever.

we know what Rasner will do, and it won't be pretty. we don't really know what Patterson will do. if he stinks it up his first few outings, then send him down. but at least give him the shot, he's earned it.

If Patterson could be this good for the big club, I'd make a role for him. If he gives me 2 outs after the starter leaves, then that's 2 less I have to worry about. Hell, maybe he can even give me 3 outs. That's an inning, folks. Now I agree with the AA argument, as we have to watch the quality of hitters he has retired this Spring. Has he gotten Manny and Ortiz yet? I'm guessing not.

Still, Rasner is a horrible choice.
