A joy to hear Bronx born Vin Scully doing the play-by-play for Joe Torre's Dodgers as they are winning in a meaningless exhibition game that surely has to be adding to the exhaustion of the newly-returned Red Sux.

Good.

I'm pretty happy with the roster as it is set at this point. My guess is Albaledejo will be the first to go once Pettitte is taken off the DL, and Bruney will be the first casualty if he doesn't prove that he can pitch well (which I doubt he will prove, personally). I'm glad to see Ollie and Traber make the roster. Hawkins has been fairly impressive this spring when you consider that he was thought to be a poor signing. I'd love to see him detonate that perception on the field.

As for Patterson, I'm sure it was tough news. But he needs to look at the positive side, in that it was a tough decision for the Yankees and they were impressed with his work. He'll be called up at some point without a doubt after he gets some more time accumulated in the minors above AA ball to prove he's not a fluke.

As several people have mentioned here over the last couple of weeks, it's a very nice situation to be in for a change where we have some quality arms that deserve spots but there is no space for them on the roster. We have the depth to pull somebody up in the case of injuries or lackluster performances, something we haven't had the last few years. No more relying on guys that had potential but weren't MLB-ready (Clippard, Wright, etc.).

In regard to the bench, I'm stoked to see what Shelley will have the opportunity to do. I'm really happy for Ensberg as well. I'm not a huge Wilson Betemit fan, but he does have enough talent that he could be starting for a lot of clubs, so he's no dead weight on the bench by any means. I only wish the roster cap was 26 players so that Brett Gardner could have a shot.

I have this bizarre trust and faith in Eiland. For this reason, I believe our bullpen will be fine.

Bruney has looked good of late, and I noticed that he has been working more then I've seen in the past on an off speed slider or change up that sinks out of the strike zone to right handed hitters. He hasn't been throwing all gas like he was in the past. The last 7.2 innings he's had 10 strikeouts, no walks and no runs scored, so he may turn out to be a wildcard this season if he can keep it up. Remember that they got him off waivers from the Dbacks, and he's in the best shape of his life, imo. We'll see, he does seem to have bouts of wildness but that could be mechanical and hopefully Eiland has been able to correct that.

They are giving Bruney the old benefit of the doubt..you have good stuff hopefully you will find the plate. Then next week he will walk the bases loaded and Girardi will pull his hair out of his head and Bruney will go back to the minors. Abba will go down for Pettitte, and Ross or Bruney for Rasner. If Patterson pitches well in AAA we will see him again in a month or so. Patterson probably can use some AAA experience. I wonder if sunglasses Igawa was upset that he did not make the team...

Well put me in the camp who has no doubt whatsoever that the Yankees will make the playoffs. Furthermore, add me to the Buster Olney group that has the Yankees winning the division and the Michael Kay clan who have the Yankees winning the World Series.

We're gonna kick butt and take no hostages this season. If you can try not to knee jerk on a pitch-by-pitch, or even an outing-by-outing basis, you'll probably really enjoy the hell out of this season. I know I'm gonna!

The good thing about Patterson being sent down to Scranton, he is only a phone call and plane ride away, SWB will have a nice bullpen, and will be able to help the big club when needed. Some or all of Ramirez, Britton, Veras, Patterson, Rasner, Jackson, Melancon, Cox, Sanchez will appear in the Bronx at some point this season. Imo its the deepest the BP position has been at the minor league level for sometime.
