It’s the homecoming game
Tonight is a homecoming for Alex Rodriguez. The Miami native said he has not played a baseball game in his hometown since he was a senior in high school in 1993. He said he left 150 tickets.
Joe Girardi, of course, was the Marlins manager in 2006 before he was fired because of a dispute with owner Jeffrey Loria. Girardi has refused to talk about the circumstances and he stayed on the high road today.
He and Loria did speak. “I welcomed him back and wished him well,” the owner said.
A few other news items: RHP Jeff Karstens (right groin) will be out at least a month. … The Yankees have not been back to Dolphin Stadium since the 2003 World Series. The only Marlin will with the team from that season is bullpen coach Pierre Arsenault. How crazy is that?

Doug Davis has thyroid cancer
so i’m sitting in the airport waiting to get on a plane to new york for opening day…
flight delayed due to windy conditions at laguardia…
The news about Doug Davis really drags us back to reality, and puts things into perspective. Referring to hopes and prayers seems so inadequate, but it’s all we can do. And we should.
That’s is good that Joe, and Loria kept whatever happened between them in the proffessional level.
Too bad about Karstens. I hope Rasner works out; the Yankees will be stuck with Igawa if Rasner can’t hack it.
Now, will the Yankees be wearing their road grays tonight or their BP jerseys they have been wearing all March?
“The Yankees have not been back to Dolphin Stadium since the 2003 World Series.”
