an interesting stat that initially surprised me, but then when you think of how many young guys we have on our roster, i guess isn’t that shocking at all, is we’re more toward the middle of the pack when you look at median salaries. we’re #9 at 1.5 million for 2007. the sox are #1 by far at 3.591 million, which doesn’t count in the $50M+ fee paid for Dice-K.

you can check it out here.

“Turns out the Yankees spend a lot of money. Who knew?”

I seem to remember Lupica mentioning it in passing a few years back, but then he dropped it :)

I, for one, can’t wait for all of the dead weight to come off of the books after this year. Payroll flexibility will be a welcome change (and yes I know that they can spend whatever they want).

Hey, is that Pavano in the middle of the scrum?

Ironic he would be featured on a web page concerning salaries, no?

pat the bat put in plenty of work down in Miami. girls would hide in the bushes of his apt complex and wait for him to come home so they could give him dome.

  19. whoa

Would they consider doing one for the NFL too?

I don’t like the way they did the stats. Since the majority of players are making very little but it rises exponentially when they hit arbitration I don’t think the median salary is particularly useful espcially when the data is so skewed to the other side.
