I don’t believe what I just saw

Posted by: Peter Abraham - Posted in Misc on Mar 29, 2008 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

Chad Moeller just hit a three-run inside-the-park home run to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead in the top of the ninth. He didn’t even have to slide.

If that’s not a good omen for 2008, I don’t know what is. Then again, he’s headed to Scranton.

    Hope the outfielder is okay.

  2. LCâ„¢ March 29th, 2008 at 8:49 pm

    wait what

  3. Andrea March 29th, 2008 at 8:49 pm

yeah, Jennifer. something crazy had to happen to that outfielder for a stand-up inside the park home run to happen.

  4. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!! Mussina is NOT DONE! anti-anti March 29th, 2008 at 8:51 pm

Is this game ever going to end? I need to go out!!

  5. Ben March 29th, 2008 at 8:51 pm

Pete, what happened in the outfield? The game’s not being televised.

  6. Lokomo69 March 29th, 2008 at 8:51 pm

    who got hurt????

  7. gayle March 29th, 2008 at 8:51 pm

so who knows about this welcome home dinner they do. Who goes, is it covered by press? I know they have them every year but curious

  8. gayle March 29th, 2008 at 8:52 pm

    The Marlins LF

  9. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!! Mussina is NOT DONE! anti-anti March 29th, 2008 at 8:52 pm

The outfielder for the Marlins. They think the ball hit off his face or something. There aren’t any cameras, so they don’t have replay.

  10. Lokomo69 March 29th, 2008 at 8:53 pm

LOL WE MUST SEE CHAD MOELLER’S INSIDE THE PARKER NOWWW!!!

  11. Ben March 29th, 2008 at 8:56 pm

I think it was the CF De Aza, judging by Gameday, not the LF. The LF has moved to RF, and the RF has moved to CF, with the Catcher, moving out to play LF.

  12. Lokomo69 March 29th, 2008 at 8:56 pm

OMG, I found it on YouTube! Check it out!

  13. Ben March 29th, 2008 at 8:58 pm

It’s not going to be that exciting to see, Loko. The only reason he hit an inside-the-park-er is that the CF must have been lying on the ground, unable to field the ball.

  14. Lokomo69 March 29th, 2008 at 8:58 pm

That was bloody gruesome for sure!

  15. gayle March 29th, 2008 at 8:59 pm

SO I see that Ensberg will wear #11. Hopefully Hawkins sticks with 22 and Paulies number still not worn for a regular season. Wonder why Betimit likes 14 so much

  16. Lokomo69 March 29th, 2008 at 9:00 pm

Yeah, but it’s HOW he ended up on the ground that’s awesome!

  17. MikeEff- Shelley ,Every Day March 29th, 2008 at 9:00 pm

do you have the youtube link?

  18. UtilityMan March 29th, 2008 at 9:01 pm

Is this game ever gonna end???

  19. Eric March 29th, 2008 at 9:02 pm

There’s no way it’s on youtube yet, and likely won’t be. Someone would have had to upload it from a camera phone or something like that. Videos can take hours to show up in youtube search results.

  20. gayle March 29th, 2008 at 9:02 pm

This is what drives me crazy with Sterling hello isnt Chad Moller in the game he just hit a HR you would think they would know that he is now behind the base or maybe he isnt

  21. UtilityMan March 29th, 2008 at 9:03 pm

    gayle

Where did you see that about Ensberg wearing #11???

I agree with ya about Hawkins….he had a chance to get #21 when he signed….he has worn #32 all his career.

  22. Tra March 29th, 2008 at 9:05 pm

Yeah, actually Molina is behind the plate. Moeller came in for Matsui (DH). So it can be confusing.

  23. Elizabeth--Melky in CF 08 and beyond March 29th, 2008 at 9:05 pm

Gayle–Moeller hit for Matsui. Molina was the backstop for the second half of the game.

  24. gayle March 29th, 2008 at 9:07 pm

It is on Pinstripe PLus (Pete Caldera) link is on the right he said before the game he announced it

  25. Lokomo69 March 29th, 2008 at 9:07 pm

Aw, hell, I was wrong. The video I saw on You Tube was the one where the fly ball bounces off Jose Canseco’s head and goes over the fence for a home run. Hey, I didn’t know the Marlins signed Canseco.

  26. gayle March 29th, 2008 at 9:08 pm

Thanks for that I didnt hear who he came in for just assumed it was for Molina as didnt think he would be out there so late but then agin as they were throwing the real relievers makes sense wanting him to get some work in with them

  27. Lokomo69 March 29th, 2008 at 9:08 pm

i did not write those things!!! someone used my name lol… POSERRR

  28. Laura March 29th, 2008 at 9:09 pm

“Wonder why Betimit likes 14 so much”

Maybe he’s a huge Piniella fan.

  29. UtilityMan March 29th, 2008 at 9:13 pm

    Laura

Well he must have become a fan recently….because he wore #24 with the Braves and #10 with the Dodgers!

  30. Doreen March 29th, 2008 at 9:16 pm

Maybe it’s not so much that he likes it, but that he doesn’t want to give away his number.

  31. Doreen March 29th, 2008 at 9:20 pm

    Or maybe, 24-10 = 14!

  32. gayle March 29th, 2008 at 9:20 pm

Its not like Ensberg was asking for it for free lol

I was sort of surprised that Abreu didnt go back to wearing his old number now that Bowas is not around.

I know numbers are no big deal but little things like this intrigue me.

  33. gayle March 29th, 2008 at 9:21 pm

Doreen that is a good one

  34. Anthony March 29th, 2008 at 9:21 pm

Betimit likes 14 because it’s the difference of his two past numbers – 24 and 10.

  35. Kelli in Conn. March 29th, 2008 at 9:21 pm

Everything to like about the pitching of tonight. Phil wasn’t perfect but very acceptable. All others did what they’re counted on for.
Nice way to end the exhibition schedule.

ON THE WAY TO THE BRONX !!! :-)

  36. Elizabeth--Melky in CF 08 and beyond March 29th, 2008 at 9:23 pm

Gayle–I thought 53 WAS Abreu’s old number. Didn’t Bowa wear 53 before Abreu was traded here?

  37. D train Straphanger March 29th, 2008 at 9:24 pm

There’s people in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre that will know who Chad Moeller is.

  38. Doreen March 29th, 2008 at 9:25 pm

Even though it’s “only spring training,” it’s nice to end on a positive note. I noticed in the box score only 1 walk issued by Yankees pitching. Nice.

And plenty of guys got a final tune-up.

  39. Sal March 29th, 2008 at 9:27 pm

    Gayle :

Abreu has worn #53 for his entire career. Larry Bowa as his former manager in Philly knew this and switched to #50 when Bobby came on board.

  40. gayle March 29th, 2008 at 9:33 pm

I have not been sleeping of course it was BOWa that switched not Bobby I am getting my stories confused I belive some sort of watch was involved in the exchange

  41. yankswin27 March 29th, 2008 at 9:33 pm

Where can I find a video of Moeller’s inside-the-park homer?

  42. Drive 4-5 March 29th, 2008 at 9:35 pm

Has anyone heard an update about Jeter?

  43. Eric March 29th, 2008 at 9:36 pm

You won’t find a video of it. The game wasn’t even televised anywhere. The only way you’ll see a video is if a news outlet had a camera man there or someone uploads video of it to youtube. I’m not banking on either one to ever happen.

  44. Mark March 29th, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Yes someone took 11 my Sheff jersey still has use this year. Last year Menkie has it now Ensberg.

  45. Tim March 29th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

why is it so darn hard to get an update on Jeter?

  46. Phil Hughes is Saved and will be fine! Goodness.. March 29th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

    Is it Monday yet?

  47. Fran March 29th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

Haven’t heard anything about Jeter but I would think if it was something serious we would have heard by now.

  48. Sean Serritella March 29th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

I was about to put down that the Yankees lost and all of a sudden I had to change everything. It must of been pretty awesome to see.

  49. 108 stitches March 29th, 2008 at 9:41 pm

Day off tomorrow except for a light batting practice. The team had better enjoy it because they get only 2 days off until May.

  50. Tim March 29th, 2008 at 9:42 pm

Great, great outing by the bullpen tonite, a couple of outs by Patterson would have been a cherry on the top of the cake.

  51. jennifer-Phil Hughes saved!! Mussina is NOT DONE! anti-anti March 29th, 2008 at 9:49 pm

Part of me is more nervous that we haven’t heard anything anywhere.

  52. Drew March 29th, 2008 at 11:56 pm

I actually have seen in person Chad Moeller hit an inside the park HR back in 2000 in to beat the Yankees at the Metrodome. Ryan Thompson was playing LF and dove and missed the ball and 3 runs scored and the Twins won 6-2.
