Rebecca: let's just say optimistic, not delusionally so! At least until the Yanks lose a game, which will hopefully not happen until, what, May or June?

Murphydog: If you like Londonistan, you might also like America Alone by Mark Steyn. It's very much the same theme, and the book tends to be pretty repetitive as well, but Steyn is a really funny writer. Both books are highly political and controversial so... not for all the Yankee LoHud crew.

"They have a day off tuesday"

Exactly. Off today, possibly postponement monday, off tuesday. most of the rotation would then be pitching on 7 days rest. That happened in 02, and it didn't bode well for them, it was a rough April for the pitchers.

"well, i was thinking more along the lines of not messing with the rotation even more and having the players sit even longer after the off day from spring training, but whatever you want to think."

They have a day off tuesday. It wouldn't mess with the rotation at all. If they don't play, Wang pitches Tuesday instead of Monday, and everything continues as usual.

“even if it rains they should play through it.”

Yeah…let’s risk injury on a sloppy field for the sake of sentiment.

"Wow! I can’t believe Peter Angelos ate that much money. The trade market must have been nill for them to cut Gibbons."

Andy McPhail continues to try put his new house in order.

ESPN's predictions are pretty laughable. Not a single analysts puts the Yanks winning the WS, and there are a LOT of predictions listed. Lots of Yanks > Sox in AL EAST, though. Very few have AROD winning MVP.

Theyre better than the Yankees Suck predictions Pete posted, no offense Pete. You are just not high on the Yanks at all. Manny for MVP? Please. That's Gammons-esque. And he knows he's biased.

CB -

It's a colossal waste to have Igawa in the starting rotation at AAA and clogging up a roster spot for a more deserving talent.
The Igawa we see is as good as he'll ever get.

Correction: Gibbons hit her in the rib. ( A little Biblical payback there) So it wasn't really like a "hole in one," more like an eagle.

Rebecca: I read Garp, Cider House Rules and Hotel New Hampshire years ago but lost my taste for Irving. I read a lot, lots of different stuff. Currently reading Londonistan, by Melanie Phillips. Just finished re-reading To Kill a Mockingbird and Catcher in the Rye. (Still can't believe that Mockingbird was a first novel and that Salinger pulled off Catcher as a first person semi-monologue).
