I like this move by Girardi, not only is he showing his power but he is improving the health of the team.

This is a very good move by Joe. It has nothing to do with Girardi trying to be controlling and everything to do with trying to get his team in the best position to win a game. Sugar is not very nutritious and the calories it provides are not very substantive. Anyone (player or not) that reaches for something sugary for a quick fix will get that……….and then not long after they will need more. It just doesn’t provide much. Healthy foods will provide more energy to the players during the game than sugary snacks will – frankly, it’s common sense. If the players want to get snacks afterwards, that’s their business, but I really like this move.

I hate this sort of crap in any workplace. They’re grown men, let them have candy around if they want candy. They came in last year out of shape and then got into shape, so obviously they can control themselves.

I was actually remembering Lidle’s affinity for ice cream as well while reading this post. I specifically remember Rhodes saying he was lazy and ate too much ice cream. I *definitely* wouldn’t be talking about anyone else’s problems if I was Arthur Rhodes, lord knows he has enough of his own issues on the mound.

RIP Lidle…may he be enjoying an ice cream bar in heaven right now.
