Also, I think Melky was deserving of a curtain call, whether it was a "cheap" home run or not. He had some incredible plays in Center.

Halladay can cry about it all he wants. It was the final home opener for the current stadium and it was a magical night. So what?

Great game!

I also liked how Joe Girardi has the honor of holding Derek's bat now. I thought it was cute.

WG--I don't understand how Pedro being hurt is good news. The Mets don't affect our standings, at least not until we play them. Poor guy.

>>Steph
Nah, let Wang come out for a batter. His pitch count is in the low 90s…92, I think. He could squeeze out another and get an ovation.
---------------------
If Torre were here, yes, he would have sent Wang for one more pitch in the 8th to let Wang get a standing ovation. But it is a one-run game. Giradi would not risk his home-opening victory in the stadium.

Very typical Wang tonight. It justified a proper criticism on Wang who would allow tonnes of hits but give few runs through the first three innings. He should also appreciate Melky's solid densese, and Giambi's, too.

Also say hello to Nick in SF.

I don't get YES, and ESPN/2 didn't have the game on. I don't have the money to pony up for MLB.tv or Extra Innings. Frankly I'm upset becuase I just missed the last Opening Day, what GIVES!

I'm looking at YOU Women's NCAA tourny.
