You want minor league coverage? Check out these links:

Class AA Trenton hosted Class AAA Scranton tonight. Mike Ashmore of Thunder Thoughts was a multi-media machine with photos, video, audio and his analysis.

Our pal Chad Jennings of the SWB Yankees Blog also weighs in on the game. His blog also has the rosters for all the minor-league teams.

Check out the Trenton and Charleston rosters. Trenton has Jose Tabata, Austin Jackson and Colin Curtis in the OF while Charleston has Jesus Montero, Austin Romine, Carmen Angelini, Dellin Betances, Brad Suttle and Zach McAllister.

I’ll be very interested in following Angelini, who was at the Stadium last season after the draft. Derek Jeter can’t play shortstop forever.

Obviously not every prospect works out. Maybe one out of 10 becomes an All-Star caliber player in the majors. But the Yankees are stockpiling significant talent. Combine that with the young pitching already in the majors and this team could be a development powerhouse that also has the money to spend on free agents.

What the Yankees and Red Sox with player development are doing must scare the hibbidy dibbity out of the rest of baseball. The advantage the Yankees will have is their new stadium. Boston is already wringing every cent out of Fenway. The Yankees are building a giant ATM that will allow them to do most anything they want.
