Tough day for A-Rod at Fenway

Peter Abraham
April

Usually the only wildlife at Fenway Park are Sully and the rest of the gang who have had too many beers.

But there’s also a red-tailed hawk nesting below one of the broadcast booths and today it attacked a 13-year-old Connecticut girl who was touring the park with her classmates. She suffered a small scatch on her scalp.

The name of the young lady? Alexa Rodriguez. No, I’m not making this up.

Wow that is too weird. Had it been the kid that A Rod saved crossing the street a few years ago would have made it ironic enough to make the Alannis Morrisette song.

  2. Bronx Liaison

    Obviously this is A-Rod’s fault

  3. Call me Stinkie -

is this A-Rod a Yanks or Sox fan?

  4. Boston Dave

I think Rebecca first reported this?

I’m sure the crappy Boston newspapers will have this on the front page tomorrow. ugh.

  5. Rob

    Thats amazing. Nice photos too…

    Boston Dave: Nope, wasn’t me.

What did Traber say? I turned the TV off to get some work done so I missed it. Someone?

the whiners and world is coming to an end crowd will have to wait at least until Friday to whine and moan.

yeah this team is not better then last yrs. team; Molina is not an upgrade over whatever his name is, and Kyle is a better 8th inning option then Joba, and having a 21 yr old potential stud look like 1 is a negative they could have Igawa, this team has the potential if there are no big injuries to be real good……………

again Santana is better right now but call me in 4 yrs when Santana will be 33 + and still have 3 more yrs on his deal at $17 mill a yr. and Hughes will be 25….

WHo knows how good Hughes will be but he has a chance to be real real good…

When my wife and I were at Tampa this March, she saw the signs at the ballpark that said “Beware of live bats”. Sure enough, she was attacked by a bat in the ladies’ room. Now this.

You can’t make this stuff up.

sometimes Boston seems like it is located in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle

  10. Franklyn

this is quite possibly the funniest thing to come out of boston in a long time.

    weird…. :?

To Yankees Chick. If you are reading, Thank You so much for doing the live play-by-play on your blog. I really enjoyed it. I don’t get the YES network where I am, in the Berkshires, and my internet hook up is too slow for Gameday. It was great to be able to follow the game with you.

Can’t wait to show my sons — they’re both ARod fans, and one just did a science project on the Red Tailed Hawk!

My other boy’s project was on the Pileated Woodpecker.

So to you Marriana Riveras and Dericka Jeters out there, don’t wear any wooden hats!

  14. Buddy Biancalana

    Yazman-

You are beating by 2 pts so far this week. I’m not done yet.

  15. gayle

On top of the great win tonight JOba an Phil gave me 24 points in our fantasy league which allows me to keep my lead over Drive 4-5 which at a certain point during this evening’s games he puled ahead of me after being down all week so far.

  16. Steph

Jeff-I thought it was Nomar that had saved a couple of people in Boston Harbour. Could have been Alex.

  17. Yazman

Yes, we’re neck and neck, Buddy! Great contest so far. I’m having fun with it.

If the Yanks’ batters got Phil the W he deserved, you’d be up by 18 right now. I really just got lucky with the W for Joba. Bottom line: it’s great to see both of them pitching so well and the Yanks win!

I’ll take a Yanks win and a fantasy defeat over the other way around.

I am at Yankee stadium tonight and walk passed a video sign that has the news headline hawk attacks girl at Fenway. I shake head and remember I didn’t drink any booze.

  19. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708

Umm, I don’t know who’s watching Sportscenter, but Bobby Cox must have had a thing for that musical chairs game as a kid.

Musical pitchers. Wonderful. And so creative. I love it.

all I know is if I was attacked by a rat w/ wings the next day it’s the start of bird hunting season for it.

    Steph

Alex saved a kid from getting hit by a truck in Boston a few years ago by pulling him out of the street.

    Now next up,,,,Ian Kennedy…..

“Could it be an omen for Yankee Alex Rodriguez, who once got in a glove-in-the-face scuffle with Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek at Fenway in 2004?”

Could be… the Easter Bunny And Santa Claus told me the same thing today as well…

Even the birds in that stadium are classless punks.
