Brandon,

We're not stuck with Hawkins. That's why we signed him to a one-year deal. We have kids ready to pounce. If he and Farnsworth (in final year of his deal) do not distinguish themselves, kids like Melancon, Cox, Sanchez and perhaps, Christian Garcia, McCutchen and, depending on his progress, Kevin Whelan, will replace those two. There's no way we're going to sacrifice the season for these FA guys if they can't help us. We have a plan.

P.S. Agree 100 percent on Hardin.

why would we want to trade mussina when 1)his salary is coming off the books after this season and 2) we've got a TON of pitchers waiting in the minors.

Why trade for Rich Harden after three games in 40 degree weather????

If Moose still is throwing 85 in the middle of June, and Kennedy has not found the strike zone, call me then.

Even then, there is enough talent to promote from within, so the trade still makes no sense.

I still like what I see so far.

I don't think you will see the Yankees making 3-1 trades for pitchers who are injury prone anymore.

That ship seems to have sailed.

In other news......

"Blargh…no, I do not expect that offer to get Harden which is what Brandon and I are having our disagreement about"

no our disagreement is how you want Harden and dismiss every other factor of why he is on the trade market. Just the fact it would take Marquez,Horne, Gardner and Tabata to acquire him is reason enough to stay away, add also the fact this pitcher has alot in common w/ AJ Burnett and Carl Pavano health wise should be reason enough to steer clear.

"By the way…THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PITCHING PROSPECT….which is exaclty what Alan Horne is (kind of). Rich Harden is not a prospect, he is a bonafide ace capable of shutting down any major league line up."

ok I tried explaining it to you in a nice calm manner but since you want to take the caplocks as.hole manner we can go either way !

Rich Harden in the last 3 years strained left oblique muscle, muscle strain in his back, sprained ligament in his right elbow, since 2006 he's played a role in 18 games in the ML, he's not only a injury risk his is a high percentage injury risk, Alan Horne last season beat out the 30 teams pitching prospects to become AA pitcher of the year, he beat out Lester, Bucholz, you name it. A year removed from TJS and Rich Harden's value is still not better than Horne's. Is Harden an ace yes, but is he an ace that has been injured season after season...YES ! and to risk that would be the stupidest thing Cashman would do especially w/ Harden being a FA this offseason and this would require giving up top prospects that can build the A's team into a power house.

Again Harden is not needed and to take this type of risk would be ridiculous.

"But if a package of Gardner, Igawa and Horne gets him over to the Bronx…"

Do you expect Beane to accept that? Especially if Harden doesn't get injured through half a season.
