The real question is do you give 4 year contracts to 36 year old catchers? Notice all of the injured players are plus 33 years old: Jete, Giambi 37, Posada37. When does the eventual breakdown of Arod occur? The oldest part of this team is quite vulnerable to further injury! The farm sytstem can't get Tabata, Jackson, et. al. up here fast enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

just read this entry.

bad news, but thank god we traded for Molina at the trade deadline last season. Having a Molina at catcher for several consecutive games is nothing to sneeze at.

How scary was it to see Molina take a foul bunt right off his foot during his first half-innning behind the plate? :o :o

We're better off in the short term with Posada on the DL. He did us no favors today, as every single Hughes gave up wound up an automatic double. The Royals ran on Posada every chance they got.

We've already won games this season scrapping together runs. We'll have to do more of it.

there's almost always a banged-up stretch or two that a good team has to overcome in some way. compared to some previous years, this stretch is nothing.

for example, it's not nearly as bad as that stretch in mid-season 2005, with the Yanks needing every win to overcome a horrid start and they had starting pitchers dropping like flies right before going into Fenway. i think that's around when Tim Redding had to star a game, and then Al Leiter came off the scrap heap and started against Boston - and did surprisingly well - and the terrifying Darrell May was lurking too. now THAT is when trouble was really mounting.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!

I thought all the extra pushups, chinups and running in ST would alleviate most of the potential injuries...

elizabeth and rebecca I haven't heard anyone say anything about aneurism. I was just thinking back to David Cone's situation and wondered if anyone remembered if he had pain. I didn't think he did and so I automatically wondered if it could be that. But there is absolutely nothing other than my vivid imagination at work here. I don't mean to panic anyone with that suggestion. Sorry.
