Update on A-Rod

Just spoke to Brian Cashman. Alex Rodriguez was in New York today and was scheduled to meet with a physical therapist to get some work done on his strained right quad.
No tests are planned. “It’s mild,” Cashman said.
A-Rod will be on his way to Chicago tomorrow morning. No word yet on whether he will play but it’s likely he will get at least a few days off.

You know, Ms. A-Rod, if you were looking for a convenient time for the stork to drop by, now would be nice.
Good news. Very specific. Unless he’s lying. Paranoia’s infectious. OMG.
No baby yet? I would be screaming to get the baby out if I were Cynthia.
Hank Steinbrenner is clearly an idiot.
But Joba does need to be in the rotation and should have been at the start. I prefer him in the bullpen to end the season rather than to start it. That way he’s able to rest his arm more and there isnt this long period of time where he doesn’t put a lot of stress on his arm (middle of last season to the middle of this season = a full season of bullpen pitching)
It won’t be easy to transition him and he’ll be taking on a workload that he hasn’t taken on in a while as a starter. I know he pitched as a starter in spring training, but they never throw 7 innings in ST. If they throw 3 it’s a miracle.
Pete,
Shame on you! Did you not ask Cashman if he feels threatened by Hank’s comments? Everyone seems to think there’s a rift between them. Can you confirm? haha.
FYI Mrs. A Rod’s due date is next Sunday, so she’s on schedule still. Mrs. Jeff NJ’s is June 20th, for those of you keeping track at home.
What does Girardi say about the Joba situation? Can anybody get the Dukes of Tampa (Hank & Hal) to zip it and pay attention to what’s actually happening?
Feel better A-Rod
Ms. JeffNJ–Best of luck!
You guys gonna raise him/her right? Have tickets for the first game yet?

Who’s after Moose? mlb.com has TBA for the first two games of the Indians’ series.
mel: They’re gonna split up phil and Ian with Pettitte I think.
Mrs. ARod is due on the 26th or 27th, but Natasha, daughter #1, was born 10 days early, and ARod has mentioned that. I think that’s why there’s such confusion and day-to-day anticipation. Babies don’t often do exactly what they’re supposed to do.
Sounds pretty good, the injury that is, but I agree, Rebecca, it sure would be nice for daughter #2 to give her dad (and the Yankees) a break!
So no MRI.
Based on what’s going on with Hank, I have to wonder if the Dodgers owner decides to fire his GM this offseason whether Cashman will go out there as the GM of his boyhood team and be reunited with Torre?
“What does Girardi say about the Joba situation?”
The same thing we’ve heard over and over. The whole team is on the same page…Joba must be moved to the rotation, at a point this year that makes sense given his innings cap. There is a plan. Nothing has changed that plan. THERE IS NO STORY.
I don’t get the hostility of the fans to Hank. Can’t people see that they are being played by the media in order to drum up business?
Hank and Hal are shelling out millions to put the best team they can out on the field (while not depleting the farm in silly trades). So, Hank speaks off the cuff instead of by carefully crafted PR statements. So what? The media were crying not too long ago about George’s PR statements.
The media is always going to try to stir the pot. Doesn’t mean we have to buy in.
What does “Mild” really mean in GM terms.
good to hear it’s not a major injury, bet he’s ready to know when his little girl is going to make her grand entrance, although today would have been great
You have to admire ARod’s dedication to playing if at all possible (unless you’re Cynthia). His wife is 9 months pregnant and on the only off day this month he goes to NY to see a physical therapist to work on his leg instead of home to see his wife.
As a fan, I appreciate that.
Yes Rebecca, my future son will be at a game in the old Yankee Stadium some Saturday late this year.
Clare,
Hank can say what he wants, but he’s using the struggles of the kids to justify his position on the Santana trade. Uncool.
Rebecca,
Thanks.
“What does “Mild” really mean in GM terms.”
That it’s not happening to him?
Don’t know what it means for sure, but do know that both Posada’s timetable for being able to catch and Alan Horne’s “he’ll miss one start” have been grossly underestimated.
Clare,
Maybe Cynthia doesn’t really want him around during L&D. He might commit an error. Or he might wonder why the baby looks alarmingly like his BFF Jeter.

That’s because there aren’t ANY physical therapists AT ALL in Miami. But, you don’t know — they may have spoken and she may be nowhere close to delivering and handling things just fine. Sometimes husbands at home when they’re not expected just disrupts the whole routine, you know???
(Speaking from loving experience.)
Mel,
The other night during the game, Kay and Singleton were talking about the fact that when Natasha was born, ARod fainted in the delivery room. So maybe he’s not really wanted in there?
Here’s a cute baby commercial:

Doreen,
My husband tried to make a joke during labor of the first born. I wasn’t laughing.
I really hope this quad injury isn’t serious. We can’t lose ARod for an extended period of time. And if we’re lucky, ARod junior (he is a boy, right?) will decide he’s done seeing red and come out while ARod is taking is days.
I swear, baby Steins have to tone down their tantrums. If they don’t, they’re gonna run this team straight down a drainage system.
BTW
Yesterday, someone posted a link to some interior photos of the new Yankee Stadium. Does anyone have a similar link of the Citi Field?
If the Yanks are not sending Alex for tests it must be pretty mild . They could have sent him for an MRI like they did Jeter, but they didn’t. So I think he’ll fine.
Mrs. A-Rod knew the lifestyle her husband had when she married him. I’m sure she’s not too upset about it. The Yankees would rather he saw their physical therapists than random ones in Miami, I’m sure.
And I know my mom didn’t want my dad in the delivery room when I was born. He tended to get light headed if he saw blood. Not everyone wants their husband around every second.
But it WOULD be nice if Baby-Rod made her appearance while he wasn’t playing anyway.
Heard Cash on with M. Kay today and he said they have found out in the last few years that Alex is a quick healer. Let’s hope that works out this time.
It’s an old wives tale but a friend of mine who was an OB nurse said they knew that three days before and three days after a full moon they were going to be busier with more deliveries than any other time of the month.
The full moon was yesterday so let’s see if her theory works for C-Rod. She was right 75% of the time with me.
