Hughes is going to turn it around this time! Wang vs Contreras should be an interesting match up tonight.
EDIT:
Wednesday: RHP Mike Mussina (1-3, 5.75) vs. RHP Javier Vazquez (3-1, 3.20), 8:11 (EDT), YES/ESPN
Wang-er’s game should be good. Lets see if Moose can keep the ball in the yard though. I like Phil and feel good about his start this time.
I think tonight should be a good game, same with tomorrow. I hope the offense will produce though (more so tomorrow) to take pressure of the pitchers.
Hughes is a big question mark though. I’ve been hearing “Hughts is goign to turn it around this time” or “I feel good about Hughes’ start this time” for the past 2 or 3 starts. If you say it every time he pitches, you’ll be right eventually
For the game Hughes is pitches…I hope the bats are awake. Would be nice to give the child some run support.
we are sweeping out the WhiteSux….watch and enjoy !
“we are sweeping out the WhiteSux….watch and enjoy !”
no chance, infact we might lose tonight the next 2 nights are very hittable SP, but Contreras is actually keeping balls on the ground.
It’s supposed to rain tonight so they might not even get the game in.
heres hoping to Wang keeping that damn sinker low
ugh,...RAIN ! what the hell !
Huh that’s funny. The weather forecast I have says it’s going to be sunny with a slight chance of a thundershower. The game will be played.
I bet Mussina will have a better start than Hughes. Mussina is pulling it together, Hughes is falling apart.
The attack of the ex yankees doing well!
Exactly..
Two Ex-Yankees.
What we gave up for Javier Vasquez still makes me quiver. Then we give him up along with a few others for Randy Johnson? Then since Johnson sucks, we trade him back to Arizona for Alberto Gonzalez, Ohlendorf, etc.? (Don’t get me wrong, I think Gonzalez is a great glove and I love Ohlendorf’s mid-late inning relief potential, but if you look at what we originally gave up and what we ended with…it kind of sucks.
PS…Ted Lilly For Jeff Weaver. Remember that one? ...Ugh.
dont forget the Vizz in the Johnson trade.
Oh yeah. I completely forgot. Viscaino really helped the Yankees last year..but I still think the trades leading up to getting him were terrible by the Yankees.
Brent-
In the hindsight, not much quality to lament over was given up.
For Vazquez, Nick Johnson/Randy Choate/Juan Rivera was traded.
For RJ, Vazquez/Brad Halsey/Dioner Navarro was traded.
RJ was traded for Vizcaino/Ohlendorf/Gonzalez.
So basically the Yankees gave up:
Nick Johnson (no doubt would be nice to have no doubt, but an injury magnet)
Juan Rivera (not a bad player, but Yanks not exactly in need for a 4th OF, and would’ve blocked Melky from ever coming up in all likelyhood)
Dioner Navarro (backup catcher, and Molina is more than servicable…so it only hurt in 2005)
Randy Choate (whatever)
Brad Halsey (whatever)
For…
1 year of a good Vizcaino and a draft pick (and the pick can be BIG)
Ross Ohlendorf (potential good, cheap middle relief)
Alberto Gonzalez (utility IF with a GREAT glove)
2005 AL East division and potential playoff ticket (remember that year, Yanks tied BOS but won due to head-to-head result, and RJ was 5-0 against them)
