SJ44-

Do you know which day this weekend that Dellin will be pitching? I'd like to see him pitch before the semester is over and I'm no longer here in Charleston.

While I agree, SJ, that the Red Sox seem to be efficient with their roster, I don't think I'd call Wakefield, Tavarez, and Timlin that much better than having Mussina, Giambi, Farnsworth and Bruney.

Mussina is better than Wakefield, at least in my eyes and Timlin is just plain terrible this season. Tavarez is questionable but I suppose versatile.

Next season things are going to look a lot different. I think you'll be saying the opposite about these two teams.

Great game last night. It reminded me of when I lived in Chicago for a year-and-a-half. We went to the Yankees games and where we sat, those "fans" only wanted to play drinking games, not actually enjoy the game.

It didn't surprise me at all that there were chants of "Jeter go home," etc. after the Yankees blew the game open. All that could be heard were the drunks.

But what was Paul talking about the black cat. I didn't see that. Did it actually happen?

"n regards to the Ohlendorf/long man situation, I would rather see him sent down to the minors, be used a little less and only in an eighth inning setup role. In the meantime, bring up Rasner as the long man."

I'd have no problems with this, but would find it really unfortunate.

There is no reason to use Ohlendorf to pitch low leverage long man innings. You can just as well have Rasner do it.

But at the same time, sending Ohelndorf to bring up Rasner just perpetuates the problem of Farnsworth and Bruney and the hold they somehow have over the organization.

Why not send Bruney down instead of Ohlendorf? Who would you rather see pitching short man innings right now? I'd much rather Ohlendorf do it to see what he is capable of. Also, it's reasonable to expect Ohlendorf to keep improving as he gains major league experience.

It's as if they have to do gymnastics with the roster to juggle everything around the needs of Farnsworth and Bruney. You do that for superstars - not for Farnsworth and Bruney.

So their are rumors swirling that the A'S want to sign Frank Thomas. I say send Giambi back home instead. Eat most of his salary and wash your hands. Why would the A'S do that instead you ask? He can play play the field(not good off coarse)and gets on base more than Thomas. Bring him home Oakland. Please!!

CB, hopefully you are indirectly suggesting (Cash/Hank, you listening) a guy with the last name Teixeira. I am tired of the days without a real 1B. However, this year I wouldn't mind giving Shelley and/or Ensberg getting a real shot.

In regards to the Ohlendorf/long man situation, I would rather see him sent down to the minors, be used a little less and only in an eighth inning setup role. In the meantime, bring up Rasner as the long man.

Once Joba becomes a starter, Ohlendorf can come back up and be our eighth innning setup for Mo.

Last night I said that the optimist in me hopes that using Joba for 2 innings in the tail end of a game was a start to stretching him out

How viable is that idea?

"What a baseball mistake Ken Griffey Jr. made in wanting to go home to play for that organization."

Griffey deserves all he's getting. He hung Seattle out to dry by going public and saying he would only play for cincy. I forgot who cincies shortstop was but they pulled him out of the deal after those comments. You just dont do that to an orginization. Go behind the scenes and request that. Its Karma IMO.

Lugo isn't a waste. He's not a great player but, he an ok SS, tough out at the back end of the order, and can run. His legs make him valuable. Another component missing on the Yankees at this time. More team speed.

Its like role reversal. The Red Sox roster is like the how the Yankees used to form a roster and the Yankees roster are like the Red Sox rosters of the past.

Drives me nuts.
