Marc, The Jimmy Fund is the redsox main charity. The Yankees donated it to the redsox because it’s a redsox jersey. Why would the yankees sell something like that? The redsox probably would have done the same thing if they dug up a yankee jersey.

Notice how they give all the credit to the Sox. Headline reads:

“Red Sox auction ‘cursed’ Ortiz jersey for $175,000″

Umm didn’t an independent laborer bury it in cement at Yankee stadium?
Didn’t the Yankees Organization pay to have it dug up?
Didn’t the Yankees make the gesture and donate it to the Jimmy Fund to auction for charity?

Why exactly are the Red Sox getting any credit for any of this? The whole thing was a silly event that was turned into a nice story. But the Yankees if anybody should be the ones credited with turning it into a charitable event by donating it not the Sox who’s only involvement was having their logo on the jersey as far as we know.

Charity is commendable but the entire Boston – New York thing has run the gamut with the rest of the U.S. and all the overblown hype.
There could be 6 no-hitters thrown on a given day and they’d get 2bd billing over a Yankee – Red Sox tilt.

I had a typo and that results in me not knowing English & Pat man I am far from Naive buddy the dealer has had 2 close members of his family die of cancer.
