Joba Chamberlain gave it up in the bottom of the ninth as the Yankees lost in Chicago.
Alex Rodriguez should be back soon. This notebook also has bad news for Brian Bruney and a return to Cleveland.
Mariano Rivera has been about perfect this season. The Yankees certainly appreciate him.

It’s ok … Joba is allowed to give up a run. Just shows he ‘is’ human! He is not going to be perfect every time – and we accept that. We still won 2 out of 3 – and let’s face it, any day the red sox lose is a good day. They lost yesterday.
Great news that Duncan is coming back. That kid is a burst of energy and is doing very well in scranton! We’ll take him!
Bad news about Bruney. I guess the only good news is – it didn’t happen at the end of the season. He’ll be out for a little while and come back strong!
Let me clarify –
I meant to say we took 2 out of 3 from the White Sox.
THen I wanted to add that the redsox lost yesterday – so it is still a good day!
even if we lost!)
Joba isn’t perfect.
He is good, but he does not need to be a setup guy – a replacement setup guy would not be so much worse to keep Joba in the pen as opposed to a starter.
He’s also being misused (like much of this bullpen) – this is on Cashman and Girardi. Ohlendorf is a one inning guy being used like a long reliever, because we don’t have a long reliever. Joba is being overused (we need more Joba rules please!).
I also have to note that when Joba blows the 9th, ‘it’s ok’, ‘he’s allowed to give up a run’, etc. When another reliever does? He’s godawful and needs to be DFAed. ROFL!
“It’s not how high you go when you jump, it’s how straight you walk when you hit the ground.”
That’s OK, boys. Joba, we’re not worried. But let’s strap it on and go get ‘em tonight!
While last night was a tough loss, I’m just glad it only went 9 innings and we didn’t have to burn through the bullpen too much.
At least the Yankees won the series. A sweep would have been great, but we’ll get ‘em next time.
JOBA IS FINISHED!!!!!!!111!!!!one111!!!
Rivera’s gotta be my favorite player of all time. Humble, selfless, business-like, all about winning. That interview with him says it all.
There’s a line in the movie HOUSE OF GAMES:
“It happens to the best, it happens to the rest.”
Last night it happened to Joba…
But there’s another line from that movie too:
“Play past it.”
GO YANKS!!!!!
