Also, if the Yankees are lying, it's reprehensible to get a 21 year old kid involved. I don't get why they couldn't just send him down......unless it's because they think they'd look bad. That's pretty paranoid.

if it is true that phil changed his delivery for whatever reason then he,nardi, eiland should be smart enough to take that into consideration and fix it.it will take between 1-3 years to find out if hughes is the real deal.look at king felix for seattle and the list goes on and on.the yankees have an old team with terrible defense and need to get younger.they need an ace.if they were strong 1-3 with starting pitching and a decent 4th man then they could let hughes work out his issues with a lot less pressure but they just threw him in and said we need you to win and he folded.all they need is an ace, bump wang to numer 2,pettitte to 3,mussina to 4 and hughes at 5 but mussina and the kids are killing them.i just hope phil gets his confidence back it could be a career killer.

With how Girardi has been less than forthcoming with truthful information, I find it hard to believe anything he says now.

He has been caught in lies. I think it could be that Hughes' injury is yet another lie.

Hughes had nothing wrong according to Girardi before the game, then poof, he is on the DL. Is this another injury like Betemit's pink eye? Is this the minor injury that Posada has?

You can't believe anything the Yankee manager is selling these days.

The MLB article by Bryan Hoch is Yankee media spin. It doesn't mesh with what Girardi said in his post game interview. It doesn't mesh with what Hughes said. I think Girardi told Hughes to lie and go on the DL.

Girardi is losing it. He hasn't been doing a great job with all the micro managing he trying, he is lying to be press, he is lying to us fans, he gets petulant with the press asking him questions.

Seeing him everyday now, I can see why he lost his first manager gig. It won't be long till he is an ex-Yankee manager if he keeps this crap up.

Way to many of you Chicken Little’s out there. It may look like the sky is falling but things are going to be just fine. The lineup has looked awful but things will change. Guys are gonna start picking it up and hitting.

I don’t mind Hughes getting some coaching on the side for a couple of weeks from Dave Eiland, that’s what he’s there for… Plus, the advantage of this is that he won’t lose confidence by going down to the minors and potentially not doing that great down there, then becoming a psychological mess. AND he doesn’t use up innings as part of his mandatory innings limit. Listen, there are advantages and disadvantages to Hughes getting demoted to AAA and working out kinks there. I just happen to feel that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages.

Also, if you don’t think that the Yankees are eventually going to trade for a starting pitcher with some experience and MLB credibility you’re absolutely kidding yourselves. It’s going to happen, just a matter of when. In the meantime, I honestly think that the pitching is going to work itself out.

Lastly, I know many debate the merits the psychological aspect of big league players. Some think guys are basically just robots and are going to perform regardless of score and situation. I do not. I think that a lot of the time, when pitchers either have a lead or just kind of have that instinctive feeling that the lineup is going to pick them up, get them some runs and keep them in the game, even if they make a few mistakes, they gain more confidence and pitch better. Now, I know the statistical folks would argue and say that argument is flawed and not based on anything quantifiable. They’re right. But for anyone that watches these games and for anyone that’s ever played, you just know that it affects these guys. Once the team starts scoring more earlier and consistently picking up their offense during games (which is exactly what they did last year) you will start to see guys like Pettitte and (hopefully) Kennedy come along and start getting big W’s.

Hope springs eternal GO BOMBERS!!!!
