Damon is falling apart before our very eyes, Abreu's wallphoebia was patently evident last night on the two successive bombs by Ordonez and Cabrera, the second of which was obviously catchable by anyone purporting to be a major league outfielder. Abreu can't go back, can't go to his left (for fear of the foulside stands, and is apprehensive about coming in aggressively (for fear of getting whacked in the face by an errant bounce). Hidecki is no better, in fact worse....he can't throw, also can't go back on the ball, and he has no idea of how to play the angles when required to hit the gap. Actually it's disgraceful. Not to give Kennedy a pass (since he doesn't deserve one) , but if either (i) Damon did not fall down, stumble getting up and/or do his usual "push" (not throw) the ball back in, or (ii) Abreu had done a reasonable imitation of a major league rightfielder "somewhat familiar with the rightfield confines of the Stadium, not his typical Keystone Kop version, IPK "might" have survived.
