Please, Cash, go, by all means, pick a fight with Bernie Williams while you're toiling away for the Nationals. If Cash actually had to rely on baseball acumen without the benefit of Steinbrenner's money, it would be a sad organization indeed. Any schmuck could be the Yanks GM with that kind of money." As if money is the only significant factor. As if every other ballclub treats the yankees like any other trade partner when a deal is potentially on the table. As if anyone could work under George Steinbrenner for as long as Cashman has. Wasn't Gene Michael fed up enough at one point years ago to say no to the job? I hope Cashman stays, just given his ability to handle the Steinbrenner and the media.
