Cash should be fired if they miss playoff this season. Most likely they will.

The Yankees don't need Cashman. I was a fan of his two years ago but he has done absolutely nothing but make bad team decisions since then. I want him gone. Let him go to Philly or D.C. Who cares. He's a puppet who's vision for my team is greatly clouded. Get lost.

"trisha - I believe in Ks - Kyle and Kei!
May 5th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
If Cashman signs with any team other than the Yankees I will root for the Sux.

Need I say more?"

What? A little ridiculous to have that much loyalty to a GM, for god's sakes. Just a stupid statement, pure and simple.

Oh, what a disaster it would be if we lose the guy who, despite a $200M payroll, has failed to build a team that could get through the first round of the playoffs, signed Pavano, Farnsworth, couldn't eke out a discounted deal with Matsui, Posada, Rivera, or ARod (despite that they were going nowhere else), and didn't pull the trigger for Santana because he vastly overestimated the talent of the young pitching. Please, Cash, go, by all means, pick a fight with Bernie Williams while you're toiling away for the Nationals. If Cash actually had to rely on baseball acumen without the benefit of Steinbrenner's money, it would be a sad organization indeed.

"But Cashman is still a young man and perhaps he wants another challenge."

Is that anything but pure speculation on your part?

THe job as GM for the Yanks is to either win a WS or at least improve the team each year with the goal of winning a WS being in reach....In the last 7 and soon to be 8 years, the team has gone from 3 time WS champ, to 2 time loser and now to a team that cannot even win the Division....His "plan" with Hughes (brittle as a potato chip) and Kennedy( mediocre at best) shows why this guy should be gone after this year.

I just love all the armchair GMs with these statements of "with the Yankees resources, how could Cashman not put a championship team on the field" Implied is "what an idiot. Any schmuck could be the Yanks GM with that kind of money." As if money is the only significant factor. As if every other ballclub treats the yankees like any other trade partner when a deal is potentially on the table. As if anyone could work under George Steinbrenner for as long as Cashman has. Wasn't Gene Michael fed up enough at one point years ago to say no to the job? I hope Cashman stays, just given his ability to handle the Steinbrenner and the media.

Cashman will wait till his contract expires to take offers, but not to worry, Hank wont go without Cash....he will be resigned just as Mo, Posada and ARod were.
