Bowa's contract was up at the end of the year. There was an article that Bowa had said he didn't know what was happening, but that he would like to remain with the Yankees. He didn't have a contract and wasn't offered one.

After that he was given a job offer by Seattle which he said he had things going on in his personal life that needed to be worked out first before he would give them an answer.

I remember Bowa was close to signing with Seattle, not sure if that was before or after Torre's departure.

Larry Bowa wasn't offered a job by the Yankees because Girardi wanted Meachem. Bowa stated that he wanted to stay with the Yankees and ended up going west because of the lack of a job offer.

Ensberg's BA has been going down with each at bat. Gonazalez doesn't hit for any power, but he got some hits and looked better at the plate. AG also has a lot more speed and could be used to bunt.

Put Duncan or Ensburg at first for lefty starters and Betty in till he is traded for righty starters. I'd also tell Betemit that he is only going to hit lefty since he isn't showing that he gets many hits from the righty stance.

Larry Bowa left on his own to be with Torre in LA. Nobody pushed him out.

Giving Ensberg the bulk of the ABs over Gonzalez while A-Rod is on the DL was the right move.

My gripes with Girardi are as follows:
Over playing around with the lineup. Batters generally do better when they are in the same slot for the majority of games. They get used to hitting behind certain players. Yet Girardi plays musical chairs lineups just about every game.

Sticking with Giambi at first even though Giambi can't play that position well at all, and as an additional newflash, it hasn't exactly been working out that Giambi hits better when he is playing the field. That is unless he could be batting worse than this.

Poor bullpen management. Over use in the April of Ohlendorf. Not going with a long reliever when it seemed like a no brainer to just about everyone that they would need to do so with two young pitchers in the rotation and Mussina who normally doesn't go deep into any game. Leaving some pitchers in too long - such as tonight - when its obvious that they just don't have it.

Putting Ensburg at 3rd base when Gonzalez was much better defensively, and frankly the batting of both were about even.

Bringing back Betemit and sticking him right in the game.

Using a catcher they just got to catch a struggling young pitcher instead of using Molina.

Giving Melky a day off and putting Damon in Center and Matsui in left on that same day, meaning that defense was taking a nose dive. Not exactly rocket science here to think that a struggling pitcher might be able to use better defense than a pitcher who has command.

Lying about injuries then compounding the lies and placing the blame on the media misunderstanding his comments. Right.

The decision to let Larry Bowa go, even though Bowa wanted to stay, and going with Meachem. Bowa is head and shoulders above Meachem as third base coach.

Lack of any small ball to help manufacture runs in close games. Lack of stolen base attempts especially when the batters coming up are notorious for hitting into double plays. I'd rather see an out in a stolen base attempt than seeing a double play.

Not sitting Giambi when he is still pull happy. Where is the threat that he won't play if he won't hit to all fields? He has been working on this through the season, yet still its the same old crap with him, and Girardi still puts him out there.

I think Girardi had an in for the manager job, which is why he turned down other offers. I don't see where he is doing anything that was said he would bring to the game - other than staying awake during more games.

His skills with the media are still poor. Given that he was part of the media for a while there is no excuse for that.

I had doubts that he would be any different than he was in Florida, temperment wise, and I don't see any difference. Yet, that was supposed to have been a learning curve for him.

Just got home from the game. You could hear pin drop when Joba gave up the 3-run HR.

Call me crazy, but I was actually kind of relieved after 2 seconds of initial shock. I knew it was coming sooner or later, he is amazingly talented but he is also human, and all the unrealistic expectations some people have for Joba were exactly that – unrealistic. So I was actually relieved that we got that over with tonight. I still think Joba will be great for our future, I just don't expect him to be a 98mph strikeout robot.

"Of course, we have to be dreaming if we think the Yankees are better than the Sox. We’re wayyyyy to inconsistent. We’re a 500 team, probably will be second, but way out of the division and wild card hunt."

Joe P.......this will probably sound strange coming from a Sox fan but did you follow the Yankees at all last year.

To say that at this point the Yankees are out of the division and wild card hunt is crazy! Last year the Sox were up 13-14 games on the Yankees and it was later in the season, and yet the Yankees came within two games of winning the division.

I know all too well as a Sox fan that the Yankees are not dead!
