MLB executive vice president John McHale reduced Kyle Farnsworth’s suspension to one game, dropping two games off the original punishment handed down by Bob Watson.

Farnsworth, who was suspended for throwing behind the head of Boston’s Manny Ramirez last month, will miss the game tonight.

    PETE!

Change the headline – it is a Freudian slip!!!!

  2. Jason

ESPN.com says it was cut by two and he is only sitting out tonight? Which is it, I wonder?

Is it “by one game” or “to one game”

    I’ve seen conflicting reports…

  4. Rebecca--Optimist Prime--Mission 2708

I heard it was cut to one?

  5. pat

SI reporting it was cut to a 1 game suspension? They cite someone named Rich Levin from the league for the info.

    Pete’s wrong.

  8. Peter

I heard it was reduced to one game.

I guess Sexson can be looking at 10 games. Of course, if he were a Yankee it’d be the season.

I also heard Joba was getting six games for the fist pump.

SI and AP said it was cut to one, but something in the back of my head makes me imagine that Pete has sources inside Watson’s office or something.

it is 1 game.. rich levin is the MLB spokesman he use to be a writer in LA.

The suspension is one game. I got a phone call on it and heard it wrong.

At last – our (3 minute) long blog nightmare is at an end.

    it’s down to 1 game

Good news. Just a small victory in the war against the Yankee double standard.

I thought this was interesting from Heyman on SI (although I don’t agree it will happen)

There’s a buzz about Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and how he won’t be as quick to sign an extension with the Yankees considering how the equation has changed with Hank Steinbrenner in charge. The new Steinbrenner has a penchant for publicly revealing his plans and thoughts, and competing execs think Cashman can’t be too happy about it. But while some believe Cashman, whose contract expires following this season, would like to give it a go without Steinbrenner’s money and interference, most folks around the team still believe he’ll eventually be talked into staying considering his strong ties to the area.

Why listen to the jibberish of Fatso & Fruitloops when you can watch the Cubs vs. the Arizona Snakes and wonder how Dan Haren would have looked in the Yankee rotation in a straight up deal for ……. Jeff Marquez ?

  17. Peter

…and what kind of nonsense was it to have suspended him 3 games to begin with when they knew that was completely out of line?

It’s like upping your every day retail prices and then calling it a sale.

Suspend them what you think they desreve and not what you think you can negotiate at appeal. Grrrrr…..

“wonder how Dan Haren would have looked in the Yankee rotation in a straight up deal for ……. Jeff Marquez ?”

While wondering that, can I also wonder how Jessica Alba would look in my bedroom?

  19. Peter

And as for Cashman, who I’ve casually met, and who seems like a terribly decent sort, I’d like to know exactly what it is he’s done in the past 10 years to improve on what Watson and Stick created.

Cash is a pretty good GM who knows more about the intricacies and ins-and-outs of MLB GM’ing than I’ll ever know, but who should have been able to assemble a far better 25-man roster with his immense and unequaled resources.

It was likely time for a change with Torre and i think the same could be said of Cashman going forward.

“While wondering that, can I also wonder how Jessica Alba would look in my bedroom?”

no because she would be in my bedroom.

…I mean seriously, how do you NOT have a serviceable backup shortstop coming out of Spring Training? And how does Shelly Duncan wind up back in Scranton to start things off (it’s almost as gonzo as him being the Yankees cleanup hitter come May)?

    Baffles the mind.

    GOOD POST..
I will send it to my friends on __Tallmeet.com__..I find many friends there and I share my life with them..many people there upload their nice pics there..

This is actually good news for the Yankees, since they only lose Farnsworth for one game (yes, it’s scary that I think having Farns around is a good thing, but considering Igawa’s pitching tonight, having every deck hand handy is a good thing…).

  24. Shame Spencer

..i cant believe that ‘winning’ an appeal still means a one game suspension though. if he wasnt ejected he shouldnt be suspended.
