..i cant believe that ‘winning’ an appeal still means a one game suspension though. if he wasnt ejected he shouldnt be suspended.

This is actually good news for the Yankees, since they only lose Farnsworth for one game (yes, it’s scary that I think having Farns around is a good thing, but considering Igawa’s pitching tonight, having every deck hand handy is a good thing…).

And as for Cashman, who I’ve casually met, and who seems like a terribly decent sort, I’d like to know exactly what it is he’s done in the past 10 years to improve on what Watson and Stick created.

Cash is a pretty good GM who knows more about the intricacies and ins-and-outs of MLB GM’ing than I’ll ever know, but who should have been able to assemble a far better 25-man roster with his immense and unequaled resources.

It was likely time for a change with Torre and i think the same could be said of Cashman going forward.

It’s like upping your every day retail prices and then calling it a sale.

Suspend them what you think they desreve and not what you think you can negotiate at appeal. Grrrrr…..

There’s a buzz about Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and how he won’t be as quick to sign an extension with the Yankees considering how the equation has changed with Hank Steinbrenner in charge. The new Steinbrenner has a penchant for publicly revealing his plans and thoughts, and competing execs think Cashman can’t be too happy about it. But while some believe Cashman, whose contract expires following this season, would like to give it a go without Steinbrenner’s money and interference, most folks around the team still believe he’ll eventually be talked into staying considering his strong ties to the area.
