trisha- The sox loss would be much more palatable if this team wasn't playing mediocre baseball. Igawa has no place on this team and has firmly cemented his status as a AAA player. Hughes in injured and IPK needs to get his groove back. Right now we have Wang, pettite and a 50-50 moose. I'm not advocating a stupid move just to win now, because half the problems are with this sleepy offense. Without Arod and Posada in the lineup, there are too many holes in this offense. They're still using a powerball offense with an offense that has no power. Forget Betemit and bring up Gardner. They need a fundamental change in philosophy on offense. Moeller, Betemit, and Molina aren't going to get any offense going.

mindbogglingly bad posts tonight, people. i expect a lot more from this forum.

a promising young rookie reliever leaves the game with some ominous symptoms and there's nary a post. Jon Albaladejo was a potential 8th inning guy when Joba goes into the rotation. now....i have no clue.

too much talk about how "poorly constructed" this team is, but not a bit of understanding that the seeds for 2008 were planted with the terrible decisions of 5-6 years ago. 2008 may be our chickens coming home to roost, and that has zero to do with Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes.

yes, Igawa sucks, but this a team going through a hell of a transition right now. Kei Igawas do happen during that time. Hopefully, he never happens again.

anyways, awful night post-wise here. not that i'm the voice of f'n reason either, but i can usually count on this place for intelligent, thoughtful opinions.

We're not going anywhere until we get healthy and find someone reliable at the back end of the rotation.

Personally, I kinda like the fact that the AAA crew are getting a chance to make it in the Majors.

It's a big incentive within the organization when kids in the minors realize that the brass isn't simply going to deprive them of the opportunity by going outside the farm system for a hired hand...

Or worse: use the kids as bargaining chips, as if that were the plan all along.

Cashman has worked hard to change the culture of the Yankees which was far too willing to trade young talent for aged experience. You need both of course, but the Yankees took it to the EXTREME; in corporate terms, they were "top-heavy" and that suffocates the younger stars - NEVER a good thing.

Girardi is being patient whilst applying the proper amount of pressure. Cashman's job is to "explain" it to the brass and the press (and the fans), i.e. keep the know-nothing Monday morning quarterbacks from ruining the team.

We're rooting for Rasner tomorrow.

Go Yankees.
Go Yankees!

It's May 10 and we're only 4.5 back. There's a long way to go, and plenty of time to make up that little bit of ground.
