So I guess that changes “the plan”.

  2. nyy7

boo no game… hooray skipping igawa’s next start

  3. kd

skipping igawa’s next start is a huge blessing

  4. G. Love

If this means no Igawa ever again in the Yankee rotation then God is officially a Yankee fan.

  5. jay destro

blessing in disguise. now send igawa down

  6. DMan

Yah, they didn’t really have a choice with this.

  7. TKinDC

    true dat G Love!

(except for that whole Pavano thing)

  8. TBR

    Let’s go Tampa Bay Rays!

  9. Fran

Finally something goes right for the Yanks. Now Igawa doesn’t have to pitch on Wednesday!

  10. jimmy1138

    @G.Love:
I tend to call it “the curse of Kei Igawa”. Be sure of one thing. As long as Igawa is not on the team Yankee pitchers will get injured or pitch ineffectively until they call up Igawa.
And concerning “God is a Yankees fan”-from “the good, the bad and the ugly” ;) .

Tuco: God is on our side because he hates the Yanks.
Man With No Name: God is not on our side because he hates idiots also.

  11. randy l.

actually, any game that can be played when arod and posada are back is good for the yankees.

  12. #1 Mike Francseca supporter

mike francesca made it rain on the field and in clubs.

  13. myrtlebeachfan

This is good news and bad news.

I don’t see the Yanks today, I don’t see Igawa pitch again, and we don’t lose another game with our half-together offense.

  14. Bronxbyte

No question about it, the Kei Igawa Fan Club has reached an all time low if there was ever one to begin with.
Meanwhile, the Yankees get time to mull over other options. The front office should carry no guilt about shipping Igawa back to AAA. He controlled his own fate and failed to make anything of it. He should be the first to know how he failed.

  15. #1 Mike Francseca supporter

btw mike francesca is now accepting donations for his creation of the house that francesca built… yes it will be a papa jones.

  16. Fran

According to Kim Jones it will be Pettitte, Wang, Mussina and Rasner for the TB series. The Yanks will need a starter for Friday night vs. the Mets.
Wonder if it will be Kennedy?

  17. nyy7

Kennedy got rained out today in Scranton, meaning if he pitches tomorrow he won’t be on regular rest untill Saturday.

  18. Nick in SF

I hope they give Jeter the lineup card with him batting cleanup.

  19. Melissa

Thank God for skipping over Kei Igawa. Maybe Kennedy will have prepared enough in Scranton that he’ll be able to pitch during the Subway Series this upcoming weekend.

Also I have a question. I see that you’ve had updates on most of the players on the DL, but what about Phil Hughes? I know he went to Tampa with Alex & Posada, but are there any updates on him and what he is doing down there ?

  20. Jax

It can’t be Kennedy Friday because he’s not pitching today.(Scranton postponed too) He’ll be pitching tomorrow. Let’s just hope it’s not Igawa.

  21. Tseng

Dangit, it’s rare that I get to watch the Yanks on TV since I live in the South and now the game is postponed. Bah!

  22. Paul

what’s with the 5 days between starts… it used to be a pitcher could go with 4 days…and the bullpen has tons of staff…

  23. Jackie V.

The only one that ever discusses Clemens anymore is Lupica who dwells on it like flies on stink.

  24. whozat

“but what about Phil Hughes? I know he went to Tampa with Alex & Posada, but are there any updates on him and what he is doing down there ?”

He’s still doing a lot of nothing. The rib has been expected to take about a month to heal up, so he’s not going to be able to throw until then anyhow. Not even long-toss.

“Let’s just hope it’s not Igawa.”

If it is, the Mets are a MUCH better opponent for him than the Rays. I mean, Arroyo’s been shelled this season, and e DOMINATED the Mets.

Still. I’d rather it be White. Hell, Tyler Clippard beat the Mets last year. Do the Yanks have to face Santana in that series? With our lefty-laden lineup, I can’t imagine that’d go too well.

  25. V

Hey, Pete got cited by mlbtraderumors.com – http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/.....l#comments

  26. Jax

Yankees will miss Santana in the series.
    Matchups are: Igawa(ugh)vs.Perez Pettitte vs.Figueora Wang vs.Maine

  27. whozat

“what’s with the 5 days between starts… it used to be a pitcher could go with 4 days…and the bullpen has tons of staff…”

What’re you talking about? Pitchers usually go every 5th day. 4 days of rest between starts.

Unless you’re talking about “back in the day” when there were four-man rotations.

  28. Fran

Jax – the Yanks will miss Santana if the Mets don’t have any rain outs this week. The weather here is supposed to be bad tomorrow (rain coming from midwest) and that may push the Mets rotation back a day.

I am not overly familiar with the Yanks pitching rotation down at AAA or AA, but surely there has to be someone else to pitch on Friday in place of Igawa.

  29. #1 Mike Francseca supporter

think the yankees will sweep the mets?????

  30. S.A.-No more Igawa!!!!

send Igawa to Mars for all I care

  31. bronxbomber77

    “God is a Yankees fan”-

Hey, I DO seem to remember Morgan Freeman, playing God with Jim Carrey in ‘Bruce Almighty’ wears a Yankees cap.

    Food for thought.

  32. Micky#7--Old Ranger

Anyone watching the Yankee Classics? It’s all about Mickey Mantle…my all time favorite ballplayer.
    Correction:
Last year I wrote about “The Mick” steeling two bases and scoring on a fly ball, to win the game. Wrong; he swiped 2nd and went to 3rd on an era. Thanks to my buddy Frank, who happens to be a bit younger than I am and a much better memory. So, I am sorry about misleading anyone that may have read the antidote. 27/08.

  33. Nick in SF

” I am sorry about misleading anyone that may have read the antidote.”

If that’s the antidote, what was the disease?

  34. Micky#7--Old Ranger

Opps! Ain’t got no learnings! 27/08

  35. randy l.

mantle was the man. stronger and faster than arod.
the amazing thing is that even he had problems when he first came up. i think he was going to quit and his dad talked him out of it when he was sent back down once .

  36. Nick in SF

Just having fun with you Old Ranger. It’s great to have seen some of those players. Someday I hope I can tell my grandkids about seeing Jeter and Rivera and Posada and Pavano.. wait a second… well, some of them.

  37. Micky#7--Old Ranger

    Randy I….
His dad didn’t talk him out of it…well maybe, in a round about way. Mickey called his dad (after being sent down) crying etc. His dad arrived at KC and started to help pack his bags so they could go home and work in the mines. I guess it took a lot of talking to convince his dad to let him stay in KC. A little reverse psychology, hay what! See, father dose know best!
The only thing is…he did play, and very well I would say.
    Nick in SF…
No problem…I’m just to old and my major was journalism not spelling (back in….well, a long time ago). 27/08.

  38. Matt

I was pumped for this one….Jeet was in he 4 hole!!!
