Good call, Pete. Would you equate Joba’s antics with Manny’s? I think Manny standing at the dish for a half-hour to watch his moon shots is way more egregious.

Goose is becoming a public nuisance. First, Rivera wasn’t as great as relievers in HIS day because he only pitched one inning and didn’t come in with guys on (he obviously didn’t watch Rivera as a setup man in 96).

To try to discredit Rivera, who would be golden in any era, isn’t a credible position.

Now, he’s taking it upon himself to give mound etiquette advice to Joba.

Goose, please shut up. I’m sure the Animal Rights people would have a lot to say about how YOU murder innocent animals in the name of sport.

Not that they are completley to blame, But I believe the ‘04 Red Sox “Idiots” team hastened the dumbing down of the game.

The chest thumpin “look at me” attitude turned me off to the NBA to the point I stopped watching. But I’ve been hooked on baseball for over 50 years and can’t stop following it passionately.

I’m the same age as Goose. Maybe it’s a generational thing,but I don’t care for the on field antics either. I do however,shrug it off as long as it’s not directed at a particular player. I don’t think Joba or Papelbon do it to intentionally show anyone up. Having said that, it wouldnt be a bad thing for manners to make a comeback on the ballfield and everywhere else in everyday life.

Off topic for the blog but:

The Knicks didn’t hire D’Antoni for the team they have now. They hired him for the team they will have in three years.

Walsh will get rid of the dreck and get him the players to run his system. Unfortunately they are stuck in cap hell through 2010. They could have been out of the mess they created by now but Isiah merely extended the pain with his (ahem) “management” of the team.

You can say Mark J would be better for the team they have now but for once I think they are looking long-term.
