Makeup will be in June

Peter Abraham
May
16

Tonight’s game will not be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday or Sunday or as a single game on Monday.

It will almost certainly be part of a two-stadium doubleheader on June 27, 28 or 29.

The press release from the Yankees:

The New York Yankees announced that tonight’s game between the Yankees and New York Mets at Yankee Stadium has been postponed due to rain. No makeup date has been announced. Please note that the game will not be made up on any of the next three days (Saturday, Sunday or Monday).

Fans holding paid tickets for the May 16 postponed game may use them for the rescheduled game between the Yankees and Mets (to be played at a date to be determined in the future), or exchange their paid tickets for any regular season game at Yankee Stadium within 12 months of the postponed game (subject to availability).

Due to limited ticket availability for Yankees home games during the 2008 season, fans are highly encouraged to use their tickets for the rescheduled date.

Tickets can be exchanged at Yankee Stadium Advance Ticket Windows only (open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and until the seventh inning of any regularly scheduled home game).

For complete information about the Yankees’ rainout policy, please visit www.yankees.com/rainout.

  1. S.A.- I still believe in this team. But they need to wake up.

    Thanks for the info Peter.

    So Rasner on Wed?

  2. JRVJ

It might be me, but I think this works in the Yanks favor, since they’ll have A-Rod, and very likely Posada back by that time…..

  3. jennifer- I got your back Girardi

So how many days rest is Johan going on? Is that good or bad news for us?

  4. mel

Anyone want to take a crack at the rotation for the next week? I never thought that I’d see the day that I’d rather see Rasner than Ian.

Did anyone notice that Ian’s filling out his uni a little? Usually takes years of marriage for that to happen.

  5. Westerner99

Good news on the delay until June. Better chance the Yanks will be at full strength by then.

Found it 3.58 era when pitching on 6+ days.

  7. Jack

Scheduling the doubleheader in June is going to be tricky…

Fox has the Saturday game at Shes (3:55) – so it’s not possible to have the doubleheader that day (unless Fox give’s up the game)

Sunday is a 1:10 start (not ESPN) – so they would have to work out something with ESPN for Sunday night (a waiver to allow the Mets and Yankees to televise the 2nd game in NY on YES/SNY)

‘Easy’ solution would be to go with Friday… but that just doesn’t seem likely… when was the last time we had a Friday afternoon game in NYC?

Is it a league issue or the Yankees? Drove to tonight’s game in bumper to bumper traffic because the game was not canceled. Luckily I managed to get off of the Deegan and went into Manhattan. Everybody in front of me sat in traffic forever. It is 11 pm and still raining hard. Couldn’t they have called the game at 4 pm? Is it they want people to pay for parking and spend money at the concessions before leaving?

  11. jennifer- I got your back Girardi

The Yankees don’t get a cut from the parking. I think it had to do with, the rain was supposed to let up, and we only play them once at home. And wouldn’t be able to make it up this weekend with all the Mets issues with double headers etc.

  12. Jeter's future wife

Rasner skipped? oh well, going to see Blue Angels tomorrow, have to tape the game. yanks play almost every day, Blue Angels only come to town twice a year, both in month of May, at Andrews AFB and for Naval Academy Graduation, which we go out on friends boat to watch on Chesapeake Bay, so awesome.

Anybody interested in purchasing two tickets for the make up game of May 16, 2008 against the Mets contact jcastcpa@aol.com for price and seat location.

  14. mr. traffic

I agree with the post but still there are other ways for obtaining traffic and/or customers.
