Can the guy get assistants/more employees to help with other areas like strength and conditioning? Sure, but that’s more on ownership, no?

i agree that it's an ownership problem too. ownership and management are kind of different aspects of the same thing.

cleveland has a bigger front office than the yankees and they have a planned bump up of shapiro with the present assistant gm (antonetti) taking over. the plan stays intact, but young energy comes in. and old energy(experience) isn't lost.

cashman could be bumped up and not lost. and the youth plan could still stay.as much as it sounds like i hate cashman , i'd rather he stay in the organization so the yankees benefit from his experience.

WE ARE JUST A MEDIOCRE TEAM RIGHT NOW..NO OFFENSE AND REAL BAD PITCHING..WHAT CAN WE EXPECT..A-ROD IS NOT GOING TO WIN BY HIMSELF,WE NEED TO LAND A SOLID STARTER SOMEHOW.
I DO BELIEVE THIS IS GONNA BE A BAD YEAR FOR THE YANKEES,ERASE ANY CHANCE OF POST SEASON PLAY.
LETS HOPE NEXT SEASON IS A BETTER ONE.

CASHMAN MUST GO..ERAS COMES TO AN END,HIS ERA IS WAY PAST DUE.

randy: My biggest objection to axing Cashman is what the GM position, and subsequently the replacement of, ultimately represents (as far as my general understanding of sports goes); the overall direction of the organization. At the top level, a GM sets up the general plan and style of the organization. To me, that's the 'youth movement' which has started very recently. Anyway, to replace the GM is to say 'to hell with this plan, we want to go in another direction'. I like the current plan; I don't want another GM to come in and set in another plan, which would take a few years to implement anyway.

At the more micro level of individual transactions and deals, he's got his hits and misses. It pans out such that it doesn't detract from my agreement with the top level plan.

if when arod comes back, the team doesn't show some life, i think gardner should be brought up simply because there's not playing time for everyone. he'll cut into other players time and he does do something that no one else does. and that is he can run.

when different schools of thought come to a similar conclusion, it's worth trying. what's the down side? he goes back and now he's gotten a taste of the big leagues.

"It could be that or they are affraid to go on the dl and have some youngster come in, play well and take their possition from them permenantly."

I truly don't think that's it, SOS, because the players know the organization well enough to know that their positions are pretty well protected if they have multi-year contracts.

Can you all see what is happening here? Because the team is slumping, posters are trying to turn it into a revolving door. Think back to the hero-to-goat calls on this forum, and just about every player who has been up from AAA is included!

And so it goes! You love a guy until he no longer looks attractively robotic, and then you go longing for another, like a fickle lovers.

It's madness.

Until the entire team begins to coalesce and play well as a unit, nobody from SWB is going to be the magic solution. Hell, they're bench/utility players. How many people come off the bench and play like polished major leaguers each and every outing.
