So not only would you not get production immediately (which is kind of the point of these chasing veterans deals), it would probably be lousy production anyway. Arroyo's been having a bad year, although career-wise he isn't bad, actually. The kicker for me is his contract; he gets 9.5 mil next year, 11 mil in 2010, and a team option for 2011 (11 mil, or 2 mil buyout). If I were to trade for him (and if the Reds were willing to trade him to us in the first place), WHY am I trading for him? Am I looking for something for just this year? Do I want him for next year?
