Let's see :

Chamberlain is at 20 innings on the season. My BET would be that that for the next 48 games up until the All Star Break, we will see 30 more innings pitched. First, 2 innings every 3-4 days. Then, 3-4 innings every 5-6 days...

With 50 IP at the all star break, Joba becomes a full time starter. 67 games in the REG season after the all star break. If Joba AVERAGES 6 innings in those 13-14 starts, that would put him right at 130 innings come playoff time (if they make it).

So, if things break right....Joba will hit his 150 innings limit for 2008, in the World Series.

I would imagine Farnsworth will get the 8th inning for now, and if he completely stinks up the joint it will become Olly/Hawkins until Melancon or Cox is ready to assume the role...

The plans #'s seem to work out well....here is hoping for the best.

I want to believe that Farnsworth could be a good setup guy, I really do...it's just that every time I think he can meet the challenge he goes and does something like he did against the Mets last weekend...

But we've got to believe there's somebody in the minors like a Melancon that SJ44 alluded to that can do the job...

If that's the case, then it will be interesting to see how good a starter Joba will be...we might become very strong indeed!

But let's be clear...just like we can't lose games 12-2 like we did yesterday, we also cannot afford to lose too many 3-2 or 2-1 games that we blow in the 7th and 8th or 9th for that matter...

GO YANKS!!!!

SJ Whelan is definately a swing and miss guy. That was never his problem. The control was the issue.

The goal of this season should be to make the playoffs - they may need to scratch their way into the postseason but that's fine.

To me the goal is to get to the post season with a rotation headed up by Wang and Joba.

You have a 5 game series with Wang and Joba throwing 3 of the 5 games - I'll take my chances.

As amazing as Joba has been out of the pen for the yankees we have not seen him pitch up to his potential yet.

Why? Because we haven't seen his entire repertoire. He's got more weapons than what we've seen.

Joba's going to be a better starter than he is a reliever.

Now that does not mean he's going to have better statistics as a starter because he won't.

But as a starter we're going to see him be able to do things that very, very, very few pitchers in all of baseball are capable of.

In the pen he's a dominant force. But there are pitchers who can perform at similar levels - Papelbon, Rodriguez, Putz, etc.

None of those guys can do what Joba can as a starter.

He'll have significant growing pains especially because he has to transition back to starting.

But he's going to be something else as a starter. The kind of pitcher this team has been chasing after (one bad free agent signing after another, one bad trade after another) for over a decade.

Look at what Tim Lincecum is doing for the giants (not his W-L becasue the giants stink - look at his peripherals).

Joba is better than Lincecum.

He he he. Farnsworth is the guy. Get used to it kids.

Yeah it'll stay that way and if Farnsworth is going good and then has one stinker of an outing, it will STILL stay that way. And I am going to get the smelling salts out now because I have been around here when poor Kyle has a bad outing and it ain't pretty. Grown men crying, bodies all over the forum, people heading for the GW Bridge, erudite "proclamations" of Farnswsorth being finished.

Can't wait!
