Even when Arod isn't hitting he still makes the lineup more formidable. Nice to have him back.

Go Shelley! I love that Girardi is playing him- This kid is great when he is given the chance. He proved that at the end of last season. 2 nights in a row -he had 2 very 'key' at bats. He hit the game tying RBI Sac-fly on Thursday night and the jump ahead to 3 runs last night! Go Shelley!

And Go Yanks! Everyone (except jeter, and that's quite ok) had at least 1 hit last night... I am so loving this!!!

David that's not what I mean, in the pregame you heard the players saying they want Willie to stay but you can sense they don't know what is going to happen next, the reason they loss tonight was because they just can't stay focused, take Reyes at SS, and here's the thing as much as I love Jetes Reyes year 3 was a game changing SS .300/.354/.487 he was one of the best fundamentally sound SS in 06' in all of baseball. That we can't take away from him he wasn't just hype we saw it in the subway series games and in big games.

Tonight you see Reyes at 2B thinking of how to get a jump to 3B and it's like he wanted to get his winning run to 3B and forgot you got Castillo bunting chances are you can walk to 3rd at your speed, then you see Wright thinking he's the last hope trying to drive the ball 700 feet because he wants the W but doesn't want to let it just come to him because he's thinking they need a win badly, if you ever played w/ something on the game in thier case it's for thier manager's job, you can see on the Wright groundball bobble he didn't even look it into his glove he's thinking of throwing the ball to 1st before the ball even went into his glove. Wright is right now feeling pressure that he has never felt before, you can't win that way, he likes his manager 1/2 the team likes Willie but right now they are in a huge pressure point in thier careers.

Reyes trying to win badly is getting away from his basics, Wright the same. This is when your youth steps up too much and thier vets need to pick them up to have a chance in them settling. In the Mets case guys like Delgado who knows he's gone after this season and Beltran who not a leader at all can only do so much, Pedro was thier calming mentor now he's in D.R. w/ his ailing father. It's not an easy thing and the guy who needs to be blamed is Omar Minaya Adam Rubin put it so perfect he constructed the team around vets in thier downward career but have no real fallback in thier farmsystem because it's drained.

Brandon, I also watched the Met game, and I would have to tend to disagree with you. Towards the end, yeah, the Mets made a lot of mental mistakes, but so did the Rockies. From what I saw you have to think to yourself, maybe the Mets just aren't a good team. I mean Jose Reyes is an abomination. He has a baseball IQ of 0. Willie Randolph can't really prevent Reyes from getting picked off second, but Randolph should have been screaming at him when he came back in the dugout. At this point, if he publicly embarrassed Reyes, at least Willie can go out with some dignity.

I don't believe that the Mets were making mental mistakes because Willie Randolph is their manager, they are probably making them because they are a poor conceived team that is going nowhere no matter who their manager is.

Oh and one more thing, when I saw Reyes get picked off second, I was thinking to myself, WOW, people were comparing this guy to DEREK JETER? Pull up the statistic on how many times Derek Jeter has been picked off second base in a tie game, extra innings, standing on second with nobody out. I guarantee it's 0. Reyes can never be anything like Jeter because he has no baseball IQ. Anyone who even theoretically compared Reyes to Jeter should feel like a complete idiot.

are you kidding me at what cost ? you think we don't have a LHB who's a speedster in AAA, you think the future at OF is that drained, the only reason a Brett Gardner isn't up here is because he is not a RHB, we have OF options no point in getting into this type of thing.

Brandon,

Are you kidding. You're getting rid of as many as four of them in the next year or so (G, D, A and M), and then there are left handed hitters and there are left handed hitters.

If Ichiro was the NYY lead, Alex would have a gazillion RBIs.

Besides, we will need something to keep all of those Japanese network folks and photogs around once Matsui leaves.
