Wear a helmet next time, Joe
Joe Girardi, as he often does after games, is playing ball on the field with his son Dante, who is 6.
Dante just had his father in a rundown between first and second. But when he tried to throw the ball to Bobby Meacham, he clocked his father in the side of the head.
Ever the catcher, Joe shrugged it off.
It must be great to be that age and have Yankee Stadium as your playground. There are even sprinklers to run through on hot days.

Great post again, Pete….thank you !
Cute story – great win!! I’m missing all of these games, but am so excited they are WINS!!!
yeah, I remember when I was that age…. Yankee Stadium was a good playground, a little small for my taste though
Aw. Too cute
Great post!

Wow!
Just looked at the handy stats Pete provides.
Cano in nine at-bats against Carlos Silva:
.333 (three hits, for the public schoolers); 3 HR, 4 RBI.
Here’s hoping Cano’s slump is over and his hot streak continues. Sounds like, historically, Robinson will tee off against Silva today.
Then all the ‘trade Cano’ fools will hush up.

Cano went 4-4, with an RBI. AVG goes to .232!
What a call by me this morning.
It’s also cute (and inspiring) how the Rockies are fighting to save Willie Randoph’s job!
Was Dante Girardi upset when he heard about the no-candy rule?
Looks like the Mets will finally win a game and Met fans will continue calling for Willie’s head
Dante has probably never tasted candy in his life.
How many games is Dante gonna be suspended? Certainly, this ia atleast 5 games.
Oh right, I forgot. The rule seems to only applies when it’s a Yankee pitcher throwing and when the ball actually doesn’t touch any part of another team’s player’s body. /sarcasm
Cute story Pete.
