"Meanwhile, the Orioles are going to have the Geico Cave Man throw out the first pitch. Apparently Mrs. Butterworth and the Maytag Repairman were unavailable. Remember when teams used to have old players throw out the first pitch and it was sort of special?"

i've been saying this since last season, but I would love to see Guiseppe Franco throw out a first pitch at yankee stadium. The crowd would go nuts when he was announced.

At the very least, he has to pull that lever at least once.

w/ the MLB draft coming next week another reason for Mets fans to hate Steve Philips he was an infielder drafted by the Mets in 1981 -- ahead of Roger Clemens. Clemens goes for his 300th victory today, and Phillips well you know :?

I also like that Mo went out and pitched a dominant inning after throwing 2 last night. He calls a meeting, gives a lecture and then goes out on the mound in sub-optimal conditions (having thrown 2 last night) and dominates.

That's how you do it and thats how you send a message.
