as just about everything else planned on this year has gone wrong. It is a guarantee the tampa pitcher will throw a perfect game. thus protecting Po's arm for another day.

The day will come for me to call Fatso & Fruitloops and I'll start with saying that I've been an avid listener for the past 37 years (false) and praise them as the best NYC has to offer (sarcasm) then move on to the question of when will Kevin Brown be ready to report from Trenton as a setup man.

"However, he’s more valuable to the team giving them 6+ innings a start two days a week than he is sitting in the 8th inning."

With all due respect, we have to see the outcome of the games the rest of the season to know which role was the more valuable to the team...

I happen to think he's more valuable in the bullpen, while many here think he's more valuable in the front end...I'm sticking with my assessment until I see someone step up in the bullpen...

And provided of course Joba is at least competitive as a starter...

I'm not one of those who will criticize the move if he's not lights out at the inception...many great pitchers had inauspicious beginnings...I would urge patience-especially for a talent like Joba...

However, if the bullpen collapses because of this move, that would be an unfortunate, and you couldn't argue an unforseen development...

That has alwasy been my main concern with this transition...

At the end of the season when we look back at how many games Joba won or gave us the chance to win vs. how many leads we lost in the latter innings where he might have made the difference-only then will we know the true value of this move...

Teams are not openly discussing trades at this stage of the season but as June moves toward July they'll be some buzz.
Seattle may be the only AL team looking to move players but NL teams such as San Diego, 'Frisco, Colorado, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Milwaukee could be listeners.

great news there... he will surely help the club out.

Pete, you didnt mention if he has to undergo any MRI/Xrays to take a closer look and make sure everything looks the way it should in there. unless its not just not needed with what Jorge had?

regrdless - great to have him back

I think Gameday missed the pitches to Payton and Hernandez. I think those were sliders.

The pitch to Huff was definitely a curveball.

Re: the draft, if Josh Fields from Georgia drops, that's the guy I'd like to see the Yankees select.

Meant to say curveballs and changeups. Bitten by the lack of an editing button again.

While fans may get whipped up into a frenzy over what guys like Francesa and the media have to say, it has no bearing on what the Yankees will do with Joba.

If it did, he would stay in the bullpen.

Its time for him to start. Now. Not next month, next year, or in 2010. Now.

He has the best arm on the staff. No team in baseball puts their best arm on the staff in the bullpen. Nobody.

As great as Mariano is, and he is GREAT, his arm is not as good as Joba's.

I watched 9 of his minor league starts. Some with scout friends of mine. They were laughing in how good he was.

He was DOMINANT. No, it wasn't against Manhattan College but he somehow dominated professional hitters in just about every minor league start. No small feat.

Three plus pitches. Fastball, slider and curveball. His changeup (taught to him by McCutchen)? Still a work in progress but an effective pitch.

He has enough to be a successful starter now.

Will he dominate in every start? Of course not. Neither does Josh Beckett.

However, he's more valuable to the team giving them 6+ innings a start two days a week than he is sitting in the 8th inning.
