"Moving Joba to the rotation is going to lead to a large number of crushing late-inning losses for the Yanks."

This is of course the risk that Yankee brass have decided to take...

I don't like it either, but hopefully it works out...

But, if Joba pitches well as a starter and he very well might and someone like Edwar Ramirez provides a fix in the 8th, who knows?

It just might work after all...

Let's Go Yanks!!!!

"The Joba Plan has but one flaw, of course."

Yes, but that one flaw - Farnsworth in the setup role -- is a devastating flaw that should make it obvious to all that Joba needs to stay in the pen this season. Moving Joba to the rotation is going to lead to a large number of crushing late-inning losses for the Yanks.

The Joba plan is a terrible, terrible mistake. Everyone will realize this soon enough.

"jeter needs a few days off.. he hasnt had a hit in forever and is definitely hurting.."

Ah, but when JETER stays in the lineup despite it being bad for the team, he's a leader. When anyone else does it, they're selfish.

"It just looked like Alex was calm not thinking about busting it out the box so now he’s paying more attention to the SP’s delivery and I hope I get this right scalding the ball."

Seriously? you think that he's been unable to focus on hitting well because he's not thinking about running hard to first base? He's run hard to first base his whole career. And hit well his whole career. If anything, he'd have to be thinking about NOT running hard to first base. So he'd be more distracted.

Sometimes things are just coincidence. It's not like ARod's never hit good pitching. He's arguably the most talented hitter in baseball. He goes through slumps sometimes, like everyone, but when he's hitting well he'll hit anybody.

The Royals claimed catcher Brayan Peña off waivers from the Braves this afternoon. Peña, who is four for 14 as a pinch-hitter with the Braves this season, will join the Royals for tonight’s game against the Indians.

Peña, a switch-hitter who throws right-handed, was added to the 40-man roster after pitcher Luke Hudson was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. The Royals will need to make another roster move today to add Peña to the 25-man active roster.

Peña defected from Cuba in 2000. He is no relation to Royals shortstop Tony Peña.
