Girardi joins mustache movement

Clean-cut Yankees manager Joe Girardi has viewed all the scouting reports and believes the Yankees owe their recent success to the power of the mustache.

As this exclusive LoHud Yankees Blog photo shows, he has joined Jason Giambi, Johnny Damon and some of his other players by growing a mustache.

However team captain Derek Jeter has refused, saying facial hair would compromise the integrity of the fade he has worn since 1995. Alex Rodriguez said he would grow a mustache only if he can find a way to frost the tips.

i am loving this mustache movement. i’ve been working my ass off lately and haven’t been able to catch any games in weeks. anyone have pics of the other guys?

  2. Mehdi iis one half Arsenal and one half Yankees

I was afraid of this. I wondered how many nights could the team be subjected to YMCA before the mustaches started creeping in.

Don’t doubt the power of the ’stache.

PA, this is easily the best baseball blog available online. The time you spend trying to bring us information is unmatched and is really appreciated by average fans like myself. The stats that you produce always helps me win an argument with sox fans since I live in NE. Keep up the good work

  6. bronxbomber77 (from worst to first in 2008!) FEAR THE 'STACHE!

    I love you Pete!

I love the kind of copy you give us in here. This, the Big Buck, Matsui’s ‘note-pad’ wife.

Jeter with the kid ‘n’ play action since 95.

Lets hope they roll this win into a streak.

Seriously, dude…you are a riot. You need to have your own radio show !

  8. rbj

So the Italian Girardi is growing a Prussian ’stache? The mind boggles. At least it isn’t a thin little one.

  9. Drew

    OMG…That’s gold Jerry, gold! :D

  10. Khoa

Funniest post of the season. Sellck, Reynolds, Trebeck, GIRARDI.

  11. Alex

Hey Pete, I didn’t know you were writing for “It Is High…” now!

    Don Vito A. Bellamo:
Do you know anyone at WFAN?

  13. sfill

Pornstachio rocks. He needs to keep that stache forever after that awesome walk off last homer night!

  14. BBB

    hahahaha! Great stuff Pete.

oh and LMAO about Jeter’s Kid’n'Play action too. gotta love the fade!

Now is it only Damon and Giambi doing the ’staches so far? I hope to see some others getting in on it soon…Edwar please…that would be classic. And who could sport a porn stache with more credibility than Matsui – although things have been going so well for him already, maybe he shouldnt change a thing..

anyway the best was the year they all grew their ’staches like Pisano Fasano’s. Long live Super Mario…I bet he ate like 50 gold coins when the Big G hit that jack yesterday!

  15. S.A.- No pain..no gain

    Hahahahaha!

  16. Yanksgal07

Ohlendorf and Hawkins had some ’staches growing too…The moustaches sure beat the bald heads that the Mets resorted to..some of those bald heads were downright UGLY..lol

    Go Yankees 2008 !!!!

  17. yankee2123

They did this a couple of years ago too, and Giambi had this Ron Burgundy stash going. I know the Yankee policy is “No facial hair”, but if they are groomed goatees & stashes, I don’t see what the problem, as long as they play well, and look like they are enjoying what they do, who cares? The past few years have been practically joyless on the Yankees bench. Let the millionaires have a little fun, and sprout some facial hair, there are worse things in the world, like losing to Boston when up 3-0.

Pete nice comment about A-ROD!!!! lolololol

  19. YankeesLuv

    lol Pete

I’ve been so tempted to grow a mustache so many times but i feel too goofy to go out in public. Bringing the mustache back is the best thing for the the Yankees and Major Leauge Baseball.
