Nobody is out of it yet. However, Detroit might be because they are losing a starter (Bonderman) and I also saw someone on Cleveland having some sort of surgery. Its news to ESPN....so it HAS to be true.

No one is out of it. This next As series is big...no one is done and no reason to panic just yet.

“Where they are is basically where we were last year.

Don’t count those teams out.”

So don’t count out those teams who are behind the Yankees but count the Yankees out because they are not championship caliber.

How come you can’t count out those teams but you can count out the Yankees? And that makes sense to you?

My point was that everyone seems to be looking at TB, Toronto, and Oakland as the teams we'd be chasing in the WC race and ignoring teams like Cleveland and Detroit. These are the same people who think comebacks like the ones the Yanks had last year are commonplace. If that's true, then why are they counting those teams out?

looks like Gardner is being a little terror in Scranton again, he has 2 hits both singles one which he got a double on a bobble in the OF, he's stolen his 23 base of the season.

Our Juvenile deliquent in Trenton is 2 for 4, Edwar Gonzalez keeps hitting. Redding is in trouble down 4-0 vs the EL's best offense and Melancon in probably for a 3 inning relief appearance.

SJ I know your in Tampa so I want to know how bad the Tampa defense was Garcia went 6 IP allowed 3 R and had 6 K's. Waiting for SJ to give us an update.

in Charleston Almonte (allstar) 2 for 4 w/ 2 SB, son of God went deep w/ his only hit of the game.

As a little point of interest with Neil allen. In 1988 with the Yanks, he was credited with a shutout, but, not a complete game. He relieved Al Leiter after the first batter of the game, Carney Lansford hit a first pitch single off of him and, Allen came in to relieve. Allen picked Lansford off of first base, the went the distance allowing three hits. The official scorer then used a little used rule allowing the shutout, but, not the complete game.

Randy you do know it was Brian Cashman who promoted Damon Oppenheimer and dismissed Lin Garrett from the draft process, eversince that move the players drafted in the MLB draft actually played in the majors. I mean I can tell you don't respect his baseball IQ at all but the young players movement was intiated by him.

Player search in latin america which has been improved by his guy Carlos Rios, the scouts for players in the west is headed by Jeff Patterson. I mean alot of the kids coming in the draft was intiated by Cashman breaking that Tampa factor. You unfortunately have to look past Farnsy, Igawa and Hawkins because I can tell it steams you.

"cashman dismissed allen for one reason and that was that allen was hired by the tampa faction. you know , the guys who actually played the game."

Maybe so, but here's what the Daily News reported:

"People who have dealt with Cashman, perhaps more so since he negotiated full power from Steinbrenner, say he can be a cold-blooded boss as well, with little room for sentiment if it interferes with his vision.

At the very least, he isn't afraid to tell people face to face what he thinks of their performance. At midseason in 2005, according to a person close to the situation, he confronted bullpen coach Neil Allen, who at the time was thought to be the likely successor to pitching coach Mel Stottlemyre, and told him he was disappointed with the input he was providing, challenging him to get more involved and bring suggestions and ideas to Stottlemyre and Joe Torre that would help the pitchers.

Allen agreed he had been holding back, reluctant to overstep his boundaries, and promised to do more. When Allen failed to make good on the promise, Cashman called him in at the end of the season, said he had given him a chance and fired him."
