viking coach
id like to suggest that you might get better results by emailing pete and other reporters or editors and suggesting a story rather than demanding a story be done. im sure he's an interesting guy, but he is, after all, a fringe player on the k.c. royals.

Man, I was looking at the fangraphs of the game yesterday.

Johnny Damon had a WPA of 86.6%!!!
Posada with 54.9%

Jose Guillen had 57.6%

Pettitte had a -74.9%.

The numbers bear out that the pitchers 'lost' that game, but that the offense picked them up and carried them.

Again I ask when is anything more than a passing note going to be written on former Concordia star Mike Aviles. Mike was recently recalled by the Royals and the Journal NEws reports that he was a Dominican college star..wrong, Mike had his first major league hits on Friday night and was in the middle of all the Royals did offensivly yesterday. Why not talk to him and give a local kid some coverage. Its a great story only recruited by one college coach, two time all american, national player of the year at the smallest school that plays baseball in all of D-2, signed for $1000 dollars and the Royals 2007 minor league player of the year, find out what Concordia did for him to get him where he is today. You guys did not want to write about how his former coach got railroaded out of his job, maybe you can do this story....don't you have editors that are supposed to come up with these ideas?? Your a local paper do a local story

Pete. - Good Father's Day article.

The Yanks win yesterday put everyone in the AL East over .500. That is very, very rare this late in the season for a 5 team divsion to have every team at or above .500. I could only find one example since 2002 of a division having every team over .500 in June. The NL West did it until around the middle of June in 2006.

I could have sworn the "experts" had ordained the vaunted Al Central as the best division in baseball before actual games were played.

They now sound a tad like Big Brown's trainer...

Have a great Sunday.

You know what would be the perfect Father's Day gift? Taking your dad to Yankee Stadium for the last time to see a game. Oh wait, scratch that, MLB's got them playing in Houston. Good job.

"Also does any feel Cash should had signed Livan now ( 5.32 era )? You guys would have been all over him for that……….."

longtime-

there was no" you guys". i 'll have to take credit for pointing out that cashman could have signed hernandez to ease the transition on the frangible rookies by providing innings for one year.

pettitte for 17 million has given the yankees 5 wins and 8 losses in his starts.

hernandez for 5 million has given the twins 10 wins and 4 losses in his starts.

so for 17 million the yankees are 3 games under .500 with pettitte.

and for 5 million the twins are 6 games over .500 with hernandez.

so if it was a dumb idea to sign hernandez by the twins, what does it make signing pettitte by the yankees?

the rush to joba continues today as cashman pushes the envelope of what can be expected from a rookie.
