We all remember Mike Sirotka? or former Mariners top prospect Ryan Anderson.

And just look at Shawn Green’s career, from MVP candidate to instant has-been after a labrum injury–and that’s to a position player.

Looks like another bad entry in a long line of personnel decision disasters for the Pirates. Glad the Yanks didn’t waste a pick on him.

not looking for recrimination or doubt, i expect that major league players making millions can hustle on the field. most managers in mlb demand it or take action when it doesnt happen, not always as publicly as manual did.

It was just such a shocker to see that from Posada, Jeter and`Rodriguez, all in the same game, no less, that it caught my atttension. For the life of me, I’ve never seen that from any of them…it’s so out of character. As long as Girardi gets answers that satisfy him, that’s his business. Mine was with some of the people harping on Rodriguez, Abreu and recently Cano (probably for not hitting) for not hustling or running into walls. Running into walls is cool, even though it cuts down on run production to save maybe three or four runs a year.

okay, but using his quad as an excuse doent wash anyway, because he showed he could run full speed when he realized the ball was muffed. AND he stole a base the other day, his quad had NOHTNG to do with it. he just cadillaced on what he thought was a home run. that’s just wrong.

Arod is known to have a strong work ethic. I imagine that he’s agonizing over today’s events even as we discuss it on this blog. I hope the shame doesn’t send him into a tailspin of recrimination and doubt.

I do not support benching him for a game.

I have no idea whether Rollins has been known for a lack of hustle. Maybe his manager just snapped.

rollins missed 2 weeks b/c of his quad, just before arod did. his manager pulled him when he didnt run out a pop fly which was dropped and he only had a single instead of a double.

Phillies finally bowed to the inevitable before tonight’s game against the Mets at Citizens Bank Park and placed shortstop Jimmy Rollins on the 15-day disabled list.
Rollins, the reigning National League MVP, originally sprained his left ankle on April 8. Each day the team hoped he would be well enough to play. Each day he wasn’t, even though he was used as a pinch-hitter four times.

now how you gonna tell me thats different than arod’s situation? (aside from the fact that girardi made an excuse for it while rollin’s first place manager benched him)
